MISSION STATEMENT
Motivated by Christian commitment, this position plays a key role in promoting the wholistic ministry of Food for the Hungry (FH) through the framework of the organization’s vision, “God called and we responded until physical and spiritual hungers ended worldwide.”  In order to accomplish this vision, FH’s mission is to “walk with churches leaders and families in overcoming all forms of human poverty by living in healthy relationship with God and His creation.”

POSITION WITHIN THE ORGANIZATION
The National Program Director reports directly and functionally to the Country Director. 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Leads the implementation of the CFCT model, ensuring the fulfillment of the performance and quality standards, in close coordination with the teams in the respective areas of the country.  To provide innovation management, and leadership in order to develop and implement the country strategy in alignment with the regional strategy and in support of the vision and mission and strategic direction of the organization (Envision 2020). 
 
ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Key Result #1 Directs Programs
1.      Provides leadership in the development and implementation of integrated programs that are in compliance with the FH program standards to achieve the country strategy and FH vision and mission.
 
2.      Ensures that programs are monitored closely and in accordance with agreed M&E policies.  
 
3.      Leads the development, design, planning, implementation and evaluation of programs where strategies strengthen and equip the community in a manner that impacts critical needs of children.
 
4.      Supervise the sectoral Specialist ensuring a constant and efficient support to the field.
 
5.      Designs and carries out corrective/preventive actions for program implementation based on monitoring and evaluation results and recommendations 
 
6.      Ensures the appropriate stewardship of the resources assigned to each sector of the CFCT model.
 
7.      Under the leadership of the CD, projects the countrywide growth plan, given the country’s needs and potentials. Directs the opening and closing of centers/communities 
 
8.      Develops policies and procedures to carry out CFCT objectives in a contextualized manner
 
Key Result #2Manages Funding
1.      With the direction of the CD identifies and helps secure the necessary resources including funding by private, public, and governmental donors, both from local and Affiliate donors. Funding is done in close coordination with the regional office and the Global Service Centers. 
 
2.      Helps the CD to build and maintain networks of relationships with implementing partners, Affiliates and donor organizations.
 
Key Result #3 – Leads the Senior Management Team - under the direction of the CD and in cooperation with FH staff:
1.      Plans and facilitates consistent, periodic meetings with Senior Leadership Team to stay aligned on strategy, priorities and operations and discuss and resolve issues.

2.      In cooperation with the SLT develops and manages budgets, manages and maintains the annual income and expense budget including timely submission of annual budgets and reports.

3.      In cooperation with the SLT ensures financial accountability of the Country operations and adherence to budgets by conducting regular reporting, budgeting, and strategic reviews between the CD and the Regional Finance Manager

4.      In cooperation with the Senior Leadership Team - ensures the proper recruitment, orientation, training, development, and care of all FH staff assigned to the Country office and operations.

5.      Serves on global task forces to contribute input to regional and global strategy, structure and systems.

6.      Ensures compliance with security protocols and disaster risk reduction strategies including resolution of security issues, identifying and resolving emergency relief needs and promoting staff safety and well-being.
 
QUALIFICATIONS 
  • Commitment to serving the poor and in full agreement with FH’s Christian foundation and beliefs as expressed in our Vision, Mission and Values
  • Experience leading integrated programs including, livilihoods, health, education and disaster risk reduction.
  • Experience in proposal development with a proven ability to secure funding from different types of donors
  • Skills in human resources management, budgetary procedures and control / financial management, systems and internal control including policy development and enforcement
  • Leadership and project management skills with ability to plan, lead and follow through on complex projects and relationships
  • Flexible, dependable, organized, resilient, self-motivated, servant leader, effective within various levels of society, good team player, and compassionate with humanitarian attitude
  • Ability to negotiate with national and international governments and non-governmental organizations, community groups and organizations in a culturally acceptable as well as professional manner
  • Ability to work with multi-cultural teams where communication styles maybe very different and language comprehension or ability maybe limited.
  •  Ability to keep and work with highly confidential information
  • Computer literate using Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint as well as communication tools such as email, skype, google docs, and programs such as Blackboard and GoToMeeting.
  • Proficient in written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to sit at a computer for 8 hours a day doing repetitive motions on a keyboard
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis
  • Ability to travel (to project sites and internationally) up to 30% a year
  • Ability to stand for long periods, walking over rough, uneven or rocky surfaces at times.
  • Ability to travel in a car over rough roads for up to six hours
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 
Master’s degree related to international relief and development preferred.  Must have at least 5 years management experience in senior positions managing multi-sector programs and strong expertise and experience in managing budgets.  Also experience in fund development is preferred.  (Bachelor’s Degree with 10 years of experience will be considered.)
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS  
Proficiency and fluency in spoken and written English.
