Project Coordinator - Indonesia
Chemonics
International Inc. seeks a Fisheries Project Coordinator for
the USAID-funded Indonesia Marine and Climate Support (IMACS) project. IMACS
has conducted a range of support activities for improved fisheries management,
including enhanced monitoring and data, stock assessment, and product handling.
With the IMACS project now in its final
institutionalization phase, the project is focused on embedding
activities within the appropriate responsible agency, and ensuring that
sufficient capacity exists to sustain impacts post-project. At this
transitional phase, it is imperative that IMACS maintains its close and
transparent coordination with MMAF, USAID and other partners to ensure that
activities are on track, milestones are on schedule, and that handovers will be
completed before the project close out date.
As part of this institutionalization phase, IMACS is
the process of engaging several sub-contractors to deliver specific objectives,
including development of the I-Fish fisheries information system;
expansion of the regional I-Fish Data Management Committees; and capacity
support for POKMASWAS community patrol groups. The
objective of this assignment is to
ensure that its Sustainable Fisheries Management (Task 2) component activities
are delivered on time and to specification by sub-contractors, and to ensure
that project progress is accurately communicated to and coordinated with
partners and will
contribute to more effective fishery management, thereby improving
food security and conserving marine biodiversity.
This short-term assignment will be based in Jakarta,
Indonesia, and will take place from March 30, 2015 to August 28, 2015.
Responsibilities
The Fisheries Project Coordinator will
complete the following tasks:
- In consultation with the Sustainable Fisheries Advisor, establish and maintain effective coordination with sub-contractors and external partners, and ensure that progress milestones and deliverables are on schedule;
- Coordinate with IMACS Operations Director and IMACS Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist to ensure that sub-contractor deliverables are archived and performance indicators recorded in accordance with project polices;
- Manage and maintain project trackers, and ensure these are up-to-date at all times;
- In consultation with the Sustainable Fisheries Advisor, develop occasional progress updates and reports;
- Deliver occasional progress updates and briefings to IMACS Chief of Party, IMACS team members, and/ or external partners.
- Assist the Sustainable Fisheries Advisor to prepare several final reports on activities completed over the duration of the project.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in fisheries/biological/ecological/statistical sciences or related degree preferred
- Excellent reading and writing skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English required
- Minimum 2 (two) years practical experience working in the fisheries or marine resource management sector or similar experience preferably in non-government organisation, private sector or government agency
- Experience implementing on-the-ground marine conservation or resource management approaches preferred
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, ability to liaise with NGOs, partners and government officials
- Experience in successful project management, coordination and managing progress in completion of deliverables under contract
- Detail-oriented, ability to multi-task and organize, work productively and efficiently, and time management and task prioritization in a fast paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Words and Excel) as well as software capable of providing graphic inputs to technical reports and software associate with project management
- Interest in innovative tools and approaches for marine sustainability
