About our organization
The World Agroforestry Centre (also known as the International Centre for Research in Agroforestry or ICRAF) is an independent research institution which generates science-based knowledge about the complex role trees play in agricultural landscapes and rural livelihoods. As part of the Centre’s work to bring tree-based solutions to bear on poverty and environmental problems, researchers – working in close collaboration with partners – are developing new technologies, tools and policy recommendations for increased food security and ecosystem health.

The Centre’s headquarters are located in Nairobi, Kenya, and research is conducted in 23 countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. We are supported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) and receive funding from over 50 different donors.

About the Position
Under the joint supervision of the Spatial Analyst Unit Leader and the Gorontalo District Coordinator, The Environment facilitator will serve as a facilitator in the field for tasks and project activities under the environment domain and as a liaison for both technical and communication aspects among team members and between project teams and local stakeholders.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Initiates relationship with local stakeholders and liaise with them for the related tasks and activities under the environment domain in the project.
  • Maintains communication and links between the Bogor-based team with the field team and with various relevant stakeholders also between the environment team and teams of other research components in the context of activities in the field.
  • Actively involves in providing information and inputs on local (farmers and policymakers) perspectives of environmental issues, priorities, and possible options at village, district, and provincial levels to the Bogor-based team and to project in general.
  • Facilitates in developing technical capacity to the local stakeholders in establishing AF-based SME and environmental services projects based on the strategies and guidance provided by the relevant team(s) and ensures that field activities run smoothly.
  • Conducts follow-up on technical/research procedures on the relevant tasks entailing from the execution of activities of the Bogor-based team in the site as discussed and coordinated with the relevant team(s) and site coordinator.
  • Conducts follow up actions through participatory approach and stakeholders’ discussions for activities that need such approaches
  • Assist project leader and site coordinator and coordinate with the research team in Bogor in providing documentation and report as requested/as necessary.

Requirements
  • Minimum Bachelor degree in the subjects related to natural resources/environment/earth sciences, e.g. Forestry, Agriculture, Agroclimatology.
  • I have at least 5 years of experience in technical and research activities related to environmental services, agroforestry, and have sufficient experience in working in the field.
  • Have knowledge in participatory approach, environmental services, and gender-related issues.
  • Have skills in negotiation, communication among different levels of stakeholders and in report writing
  • Able to work independently.
  • Well organized; able to meet deadlines.
  • Strong team player and ability to work with diverse individuals and organizations.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in both Indonesian and English.
  • Basic computer, administrative and documentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well in multicultural teams.
