Duties
and Responsibilities
Under the direct
supervision of the Senior Protection Assistant and overall supervision of the
RSD Officer, the incumbent will perform the following duties and responsibilities:
- Manage the reception of new asylum seekers in Jakarta;
- Undertake registration of asylum seekers, including data entry in the ProGres case management database;
- Undertake periodic missions to conduct mobile registration of asylum seekers at immigration detention centres across Indonesia, including in remote locations;
- Provide counselling to asylum seekers on the registration process;
- Create individual physical files for newly registered asylum seekers and undertake filing of relevant documentation;
- Ensure all files are bar-coded and properly managed through the file tracking system;
- Issue and renew certificates to asylum seekers and refugees;
- Perform other clerical duties as required.
Qualifications/Requirements
Competencies: Communication; technological awareness; teamwork and
collaboration.
Education: Minimum completion
of secondary education but preferably a University Degree in law, political
studies or related disciplines.
Experience: Two (2) years previous
job experience in relevant work area. Experience of working in a multi-cultural
environment or international context an added asset.
Nationality: Citizen of
Indonesia; non-citizen with Indonesian permanent
residence.
Languages: Excellent
knowledge of English and Bahasa Indonesia (written and oral) is essential;
knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.
Desirable Skills: Communication;
computer and Windows literate; good knowledge of UNHCR’s protection mandate;
good interviewing and counselling skills.

Relationships:
- Within UNHCR;
- With External Parties: Immigration Detention Centers; International Organization for Migration (IOM) and UNHCR’s implementing partner, Church World Service (CWS).
