Under the direct supervision of and
reporting to Program Officer of Muslim Aid Indonesia Yogyakarta Sub-field
Office, Muslim Aid Yogyakarta is currently looking for a qualified and
committed candidate to fill the following position:
Position title : Hygiene & Sanitation Promotion
Facilitator
Report to : Program Officer
Duty Station : Yogyakarta Sub Field Office
Type of Contract : 10 Months
Job Purpose
Under
the oversight supervision and guidance of Program Officer the incumbent will
responsible to manage WATSAN program at school & provide technical
assistance and capacity building in the community level.
Specific Task
The
following specific duties have been enumerated mainly for the incumbent to have
a clear understanding of the position and the roles and responsibilities
expected.
- Liaise with 5 elementary school teachers, community leaders and other stakeholders to coordinate within the WASH sector and other related sectors.
- Promote safe WASH practices, including appropriate use and maintenance of WASH facilities and services
- Implementing project activities on water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH), and waste management issues.
- Gather data during needs assessments, baseline studies, and periodic studies, and help feed back findings to stakeholders
- Facilitate target community involvement in the design and delivery of essential WASH services, it’s facilities, health, hygiene and waste management issues
- Educate and facilitate the target beneficiaries on WASH, health, hygiene and waste management issues.
- Identify key hygiene practices to be addressed and carry out appropriate activities to promote safe practices. These activities may include the following:
Communication
activities such as community/school meetings, role play, information
campaigns/IEC, use of educational materials etc.; support to water-point
committees, hygiene committees and etc.
- Carry out hygiene promotion activities in line with relevant standards, codes of conduct and humanitarian principles.
- Encourage the participation of target community members throughout the programme
- Identify any constraints and issues, particularly in relation to the community/school and target beneficiaries, and implement a solution focused approach.
- Assist in undertaking initiatives promoting Muslim Aid’s image and activities in the program region.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Have knowledge of one or more of the following: public health, health or hygiene promotion, community development, education, or community water supply and sanitation.
- University degree
- At least one year of practical experience in the relevant community development, health, WASH, or similar program.
- Good knowledge and experience of working with local partner agencies
- Experience and understanding of hygiene promotion and community mobilization in relation with water and sanitation activities
- Familiar with the local culture of the target community, able to develop respect from a wide range of people and poses strong ability to communicate effectively on hygiene matters.
- Have training/facilitation development skills.
- Have personnel management skills.
- Ability to work well within the team in difficult circumstances
