WWF Indonesia Job Vacancy: Conservation and Turtle Monitoring Sub - Officer - Buru, Maluku

WWF-ID is currently seeking for the best candidate for the position of Conservation and Turtle Monitoring Sub-Officer. This position will be based in Buru Island, Maluku and report to Social Development Officer.

Scope of works:
Responsible for conducting sea turtle conservation in Maluku and assist the local community and related government to ensure the data collection and information management, awareness and support the government and local community in the project/ program of WWF-Indonesia.

Develop and conduct the research-based policy, and provide the conservation model to develop the strategy and action plan to cope with the sea turtle issues in Maluku matching with the conservation strategy in WWF-Indonesia and National Plan of Action in sea turtle conservation in Indonesia.

Activities:

Research:
  • Helping in research of population, migration, genetic, utilization of sea turtle and others related in Maluku.
  • Collect information on community’s dynamic and concern of targeted communities that delivered to WWF-Indonesia as feedback from them related to the program implementation and/ opportunity to improve the program and as a baseline to implement the alternative livelihood.
  • Ensure the data collection activities to run consistently by enumerators in line with the procedure and data form existed.
Knowledge Sharing:
  • Provide the educational and informative content related to the species conservation and sustainable utilization for related stakeholder.
Reports:
  • Coordinate the enumerator report on population monitoring of sea turtle in nesting beach of North Buru to be reported consistently every 10 days.
  • Deliver report periodically or ad hoc report to documented any activities related to the conservation, success story and/ lesson learned, to ensure the documentation of any activities of conservation in the future.
Stakeholder Management:
  • Update the information about species conservation and sustainable use and consult with related stakeholders consistently during the execution, lobby if necessary and build and maintain good relations with related stakeholders.
Community Management:
  • Lead, train and develop the team functionally and positive feedback for the evaluation session.
  • Maintain a good relationship with related stakeholder.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
  • Monitor the obedience/adjust the program implemented to the conservation guideline and policy, also with the methodology aspect and give recommendation of adjustment if necessary.
  • Evaluate the work ethic of enumerators, give feedback to the enumerator to overcome the obstacles and design the best method for data collection by enumerators to achieve reliable and factual data collected. Evaluation must be conducted consistently every 10 days.
Requirements for this position are:
  • Bachelor degree in Marine Science/ Fisheries/ Social/ Environment or related studies
  • At least 1 year of proven experience in sea turtle monitoring and or ETP Marine Species, Local community, NGO, Management and data analysis of ETP Marine Species
