Human Resources Director

Working in 30+ countries globally, Conservation International (CI) Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to protecting healthy ecosystems for the good of humanity.

Based in Jakarta, the Human Resources Director oversees the human resources function in a country program, partnering with the Vice President and the country program’s management team in the strategic planning and execution of initiatives and programs to ensure that the program has the appropriate structure, culture, and talent to deliver effectively on programmatic needs.

He/She is responsible for the implementation of organizational Human Resources policies, processes, protocols and systems. This includes workforce planning, recruitment/selection, staffing, performance management, compensation/benefits, training and development, and employee relations. The position ensures full compliance and appropriate application of mandatory labor practices and procedures.

He/She is the lead on talent management and employee engagement for a program of 100+ staff, actively seeking best practices and improvement, promoting teamwork, supporting innovation and managing change. Ensures that all staff is informed on relevant information about CI’s approach to managing its people and building the capacity of managers and supervisors to lead their teams appropriately. Also, supports employees and managers in modeling and ensuring a healthy and motivating working environment, living the organization’s values and facilitating processes for dialogue and constructive problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Work strategically and collaboratively with the country management team to develop full-cycle talent management programs and ensure oversight and capacity building in all functional HR areas including recruitment, contracting, on-boarding, compensation, benefits, performance management, succession planning, separations.
  2. Identifies, develops and implement processes for workforce planning and management of the staff in alignment with CI Indonesia’s annual goals and multi-strategy and labor conditions.
  3. Lead the creation and implementation of an effective employee engagement strategy with the Vice President to help staff understand CI, our strategy and how their work contributes to its success, promoting a culture of ownership and collaboration between teams and ensuring strong and healthy practices that lead to constructive relationships among peers, supervisors, and employees
  4. Lead or advise on recruitment, selection and contracting of staff, ensuring that policy, statutory and best practice requirements are satisfied
  5. Manage activities of the HR team to implement and monitor CI policies and systems, ensuring foundational core HR work is completed timely and in compliance with local labor laws
  6. Manage employee relations, serving as advisor or mediator to resolve problems and conflicts, ensuring equitable and fair treatment and in compliance with all legal and labor regulations and requirements.
  7. Coach and advise leadership and country management team on best practice leadership skills build capacity in people skills and the daily management of their staff
  8. Deliver training including new employee orientation, CI and HR policies, managerial and leadership capacity
  9. Work collaboratively and in integration with Global Human Resources on leadership and management development, performance management and implementation of other global programs and initiatives
  10. Recommend, advise and implement CI Indonesia organizational changes or reorganizations as needed
  11. Partner with the Operations Director to ensure full alignment on all HR programs, processes or engagements with budget-related impacts and work jointly to address risk areas and that core functions of employee compensation, benefits, and labor conditions are adequately monitored and managed
  12. Serve as a core and contributing member of the Global HR Network, a cross-divisional team of dedicated HR practitioners who advise, contribute to, and partner on global processes, policies, tools, and programs
Key Job Requirements:

Experience & Skill:
  1. A bachelor’s degree in related area and a minimum of 7 years of Human Resources experiences or any similar combination of education and experience with proven managerial experience and advancement in Human Resources positions
  2. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an international organization
  3. Working knowledge of full suite of human resources disciplines including staffing, workforce planning, recruiting, employee relations, compensation practices, benefits administration, performance management, and talent development
  4. Experience in designing and implementing employee engagement and talent management initiatives, including high potential talent and succession planning
  5. Experience in conducting informal and formal investigations
  6. Expert understanding and applied knowledge of mandatory labor practices and procedures.
  7. Proven ability to develop key relationships and partner effectively with leadership, to influence without formal authority
  8. Proven negotiation, conflict management and resolution skills
  9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa
  10. Demonstrated professional-executive presence with persuasive and engaging communication, presentation, training and facilitation skills to clearly convey objectives to diverse audiences and stakeholders
  11. Demonstrated ability to engage through a positive, professional attitude with integrity and values at all times and all levels of staff
  12. Ability to work through organizational complexity and work with different stakeholders at multiple levels throughout the organization
  13. Proficiency in HR Information Systems and Microsoft Office suite and ability to learning and successfully navigate in collaboration tools such as SharePoint
Preferred:
  1. Professional HR accreditation or certification
  2. Certification in MBTI, DISC or Insights or similar tool
  3. Certification or experience in conflict management or coaching
