Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) , a non profit organisation which works on health sector, focusing on HIV/AIDS, opens a position for :

TB COORDINATOR

Background
HIV and TB present major threats to public health in Tanah Papua. Papua and West Papua Provinces both have TB prevalence rates higher than national average of 1.0%, and West Papua the highest in the country.

The REACH technical assistance program includes strengthening of TB services and program management. a TB resource person or coordinator is urgently needed to coordinate all REACH TB activities at national, provincial, and district levels with all partners at each levels and strengthen TB program implementation at health facilities level.

Principal responsibilities
N.B. All TB activities in Papua and W Papua are coordinated through the RPMs in Papua and Papua Barat
  • Assure REACH TB activities (planning, training, etc) match national, provincial and district TB program priorities and and are coordinated with other TB partners (eg KNCV, TB Care, TB REACH, CEPAT and other local NGOs)
  • Ensure REACH support (clinical, M&E, lab) to TB implementors district level including DHO, puskesmas, clinic / BP and hospital
  • Provide TB technical support and training to CHAI/COE-PAKP staff in Papua/West Papua on all aspects of clinical and TB program management including reporting, M&E and lab
  • Assure TB program implementation beginning from intensified active case finding, testing, treatment completion and infection control in accordance with national guidelines and REACH design
  • Monitor site participation in EQAS for TB slide reading and assure clinical and lab teams are aware of any deficient results for follow-up.
  • Develop and monitor policies, procedures for submission of samples for GenXpert and reporting of results
  • Monitor implementation science research for training of health/non-health microscopists and the results.
  • Meet all requirements for recording and reporting working closely with CHAI and provincial TB Wasor, M&E teams and the respective Sub-directorates
  • Work with Supply Chain Management (SCM) to assure continuous supply of TB test kits and medications without stock outs
  • Assist both provinces, DHOs and district hospitals in the preparation for MDR TB management as well as TB-HIV management program ?
  • Experience working in resource-limited setting
  • Willing to work as a team
  • Willing to be based in Tanah Papua
Performance criteria
  • SubDit TB assessment of REACH performance using traditional TB program indicators
  • Target achievement of COE/PAKP teams for TB
  • RR compliance of District and Provincial TB programs
  • Absence of stock-outs of critical lab supplies and medications
  • EQAS program that assures diagnostic accuracy
  • Regular and accurate M&E reports for TB
Required experience
  • MD or MPH
  • 5 year TB program experience including MDR TB, TB-HIV and DOTS
  • Clear understanding of national TB guidelines including testing, treatment, recording and reporting
  • Clear understanding lab issues
  • Clear understanding of SCM issues
  • GOI work experience especially in health facilities (hospital/PKM) in Tanah Papua
