The Zoological Society of London is an international wildlife conservation organization with a focus on science-based and pragmatic solutions. ZSL has been active in Indonesia for about 10 years, with a particular focus on the overlap between industrial development and biodiversity conservation. Dangku Project Manager & South Sumatra Liaison

Work Area: Palembang with travel to monitor projects in the field and elsewhere as required
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday from 09.00 am up to 05.00 pm
Reporting to: Country Managers
Key Internal Relationships: National Conservation Coordinator, Projects Coordinator
Main responsibilities
- To design, implement and manage the Dangku Corporate Conservation Complex project, funded by PT Musim Mas.
- To plan, manage and account for spending of the allocated budget for the Dangku project.
- To manage (and recruit as necessary) a field team for implementing field work within the Dangku landscape.
- To manage and develop partnerships with stakeholders across the Dangku landscape, both already-established partnerships as well as creating new ones, towards achieving the ultimate goals of the project. The relevant stakeholders from the Dangku region comes from the government, private sector oil-palm plantations and forestry concessions, and NGOs, namely; BKSDA South Sumatra, ZSL Indonesia, GIZ Palembang, PT. Bumi Persada Permai (BPP), PT. Musi Banyuasin Indah (MBI), ConocoPhillips Indonesia (COPI), Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) and PT Sentosa Bahagia Bersama.
- Provide technical and logistical support to the BKSDA in its running the Forum Konservasi Lansekap Dangku (Conservation of Dangku Landscape Forum) – a collaborative body of all stakeholders interested in the management of the Dangku landscape.
- To manage all data related to the Dangku project, including the sourcing and management of spatial data.
- To submit monthly reports on activities completed during the previous month and planned for the following month.
- To submit a monthly financial report.
- To provide reports to donors as and when required.
- To coordinate all activities and plans with the Country Managers.
- To coordinate activities with other members of ZSL Indonesia and to provide assistance with other aspects of the ZSL Indonesian programme where time allows.
- To work with Country Managers to raise additional funds as and when required.
- Any other tasks relating to the work of ZSL Indonesia as required by line managers.

- University degree in related discipline (or sufficient levels of relevant experience).
- Highly motivated.
- A high level of physical fitness.
- Proven fieldwork/survey experience vital – willingness to spend time in the field.
- Excellent IT skills; especially working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent report writing skills (English and Bahasa).
- Excellent English.
B. Highly desirable skills include
- Familiarity with GPS data collection methods.
- GIS analytical and presentation (e.g. spatial mapping) skills.
- Interest/experience in the conservation sector in Indonesia
- Previous work for an international NGO.
- Previous work directly or indirectly with Government of Indonesia Institutions.
