The Center for Public Policy Transformation (Transformasi)
The Center for Public Policy Transformation (www.transformasi.org)
is a new, non-profit educational institution established to promote
evidence-based policy research and training in
Indonesia. Transformasi will collaborate with domestic and
international partners to provide executive education programs for
government officials, to link training to practical policy research and
help domestic researchers and research institutions build capacity for
evidence-based research. Transformasi will invest in communications and
outreach to raise public awareness of policy issues and link
policymakers, researchers and the general public.
EDITOR
Reporting to the Communications Director, the Editor will
be responsible for all Transformasi content that is published on the
organization's website, Facebook page, Twitter account and Youtube.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Prepare, rewrite and edit copy to improve readability, or supervise others who do this work.
- Verify facts, dates, and statistics, using standard reference sources.
- Read copy or proof to detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation, and syntax.
- Develop story or content ideas, considering reader or audience appeal.
- Supervise and coordinate work of writers, producers of video and other media.
- Plan the contents of website according to Tranformasi’s style, editorial policy, and publishing requirements.
- Read, evaluate and edit manuscripts or other materials submitted for publication and confer with authors regarding changes in content, style or organization, or publication.
- Arrange for translation to maintain the website in two languages at all times.
- Oversee artwork, layout, and visual appeal of the website
- Assign topics, events and stories to individual writers or reporters for coverage.
- Confer with management and editorial staff members regarding placement and emphasis of developing news stories
- Select local, state, national, and international news items received from other sources based on assessment of items' significance and interest value.
- Arrange for copyright permissions.
- Draft terms of reference for external writers and producers of other forms of media in collaboration with the Director of Communications and the Director of Finance and Administration.
Qualifications:
The Editor will have the following experience and attributes:
· University degree preferred but University Diploma acceptable
· At least five years of experience with at least two years of editorial experience
· Ability to work to deadline
· Proficiency in managing web pages
· English language proficiency is a must
· Flexible, a self-starter and also being highly detail-oriented.
· Personal
qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to the Center’s
mission of promoting policy research and education.
