The Zoological Society of London Vacancy: Accountant, Bogor

The Zoological Society of London is an international wildlife conservation organization with a focus on science-based and pragmatic solutions. ZSL has been active in Indonesia for about 10 years, with a particular focus on the overlap between industrial development and biodiversity conservation. ZSL’s Indonesia is based in Bogor, West Java, with existing field projects in Jambi and South Sumatera. We are now looking for:

Terms and Condition
Start Date : As soon as possible

Duration of Contract: One year fixed-term contract, with potential to extend

Work Area: Bogor with travel to monitor projects in the field and elsewhere as required

Hours of Work : This is a part-time position, working three days a week from 09.00 am up to 05.00 pm, the timing of working hours can be modified with the agreement of the Line Manager (24 hours/weeks). Potently full timed in the future

Main responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Country Manager (CM) working closely with the Finance and Administrative Manager (F & A Manager), the Accountant will:
  • Assist the CM to ensure that financial management and accounting procedures meet best practice accounting standards and allow generation of financial statements for all projects being implemented within the programme as required by ZSL and donors. 
  • Ensure absolute integrity, high quality and efficiency in executing financial transactions.
  • Assist in addressing financial management issues as they arise.
  • Maintain detailed records for all financial transactions in an organized and professional manner.
  • Perform daily functions including recording all cash, check and bank transfer transactions, maintain cash and bank ledgers, monitor cash advances and field expense reports, reconcile cash on hand and monthly bank reconcile.
  • Provide required monthly financial reports by specified deadlines to CM and his/her designee and in coordination with Finance & Administration Manager.
  • Administer all cash advances to employees and partners, reconciling all receipts and remaining cash at month’s end.
  • Assist the CM in managing the cash flow.
  • Responsible for tax reporting.
  • With Finance & Administration Manager – creating system accounts receivable (Invoicing/billing etc) and Accounts payable (procurement).
  • Coordinate any interim and annual internal and external audits.
  • Ensure the proper accounting, recording and allocation of projects income/outcome.
  • Prepare monthly cash flow projections, cash forecasts and requests.
Qualification
  • Bachelor's degree (S1) from four-year college or university with a minimum of three years accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office particular in Excel, and familiar with particular accounting software such as Sun Systems.
  • Experience with International NGO and grants management preferred.
  • Knowledge in Indonesian Taxes Regulation, especially PPh pasal 21.
  • Experience of International Donors such as USAID and other EU-funded projects, understanding of European Union and United States regulations (SOP) is desirable.
  • Strong relational skills and financial management experience preferred.
  • English language skills preferred.
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with people of different educational, linguistic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Above average communication skills-both verbal and written.
  • Works well in adverse team and a pressured environment.
  • Commitment and understanding of ZSL Vision and Mission.
  • Mature, considerate and able to influence others, level-headed in stressful environment.
