Conservation International Vacancy: SLP Stakeholder Engagement Manager, Jakarta

Conservation International, an international non-governmental organization, is seeking to fill the position of SLP Stakeholder Engagement Manager to be based in Jakarta.

The Sustainable Landscapes Partnership (SLP) program will establish a replicable model of public-private partnerships that foster low carbon development opportunities, thereby helping to address global climate change and contribute to economic growth. 
The SLP Stakeholder Engagement Manager (SEM) is responsible for developing and implementing an effective corporate and stakeholder engagement strategy primarily for the Sustainable Landscapes Partnership but extending where possible to other CI-Indonesia programs.  It is a key position and reports directly to the SLP COP/DCOP.  Important to this role will be the ability to develop and maintain public-private partnerships that meet SLP objectives and are meaningful on the ground with a particular emphasis on participation and ownership by stakeholders. The SLP SEM will develop and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders (private, public and community) across local, regional and national platforms as required and that is strategically focused.

Responsibilities:
1.     Private and Public Sector Engagement
a.     Develop a high level of knowledge of key SLP, CI and other relevant documents and materials including but not restricted too: SIAP, and Yr 3 Workplan etc;

b.    Develop a working understanding of key SLP technical areas including: GHG, LED, REDD+, value chains (palm, cocoa, rubber, coffee, etc.), BMPs (palm), forestry, timber and conservation;    

c.     Ensure that all interaction and engagement is always in line with CI code of conduct, Operations & Grants Manuals, CI working with partners and government officials;   

d.    Develop a high level knowledge of potential and current private sector partner corporate interests and corporate capability.  Translate this into meaningful partnerships to achieve SLP goals;

e.     Together with the COP/DCOP discuss opportunities and then based on direction proceed to develop MoUs, working agreements or other arrangements that support SLP outcomes;

f.     Develop and maintain high quality private public partnerships (PPPs) that support SLP goals and objectives.  A key focus will be to identify and help form PPPs that provide technical assistance, cash investment or ideally active implementation between partners;

g.    Advise on target audiences, media engagement and outreach opportunities, leveraging SLP activities in Indonesia;
 
2.     Develop effective partnerships with public and private sector partners:
a.     Develop relationships with internal and external partners (HQ communications team; external stakeholders; relevant institutions and media outlets);

b.    Establish and maintain a broad network with corporations strategically important to SLP and form key partnerships to support SLP objectives and aims;

c.     Consider and develop ways of capturing and communicating the dissemination of key conservation and development messages to SLP.

3.     Outreach Activities
a.    Together with key field personnel and management staff in Jakarta and Medan oversee and direct the preparation and organization of the MEF supporting the SEA process in both Madina and Tapanuli Selatan.  This will be a shared role as technical staff provide guidance and direction linked with specific technical topics (policy, regulatory, value chains etc);

b.    Develop or update existing and appropriate materials for the above mentioned plans – awareness campaigns, factsheets, webpage content, educational materials, and participatory activities to support SLP interventions and activities;

c.    Plan and coordinate with SLP and CI personnel the necessary materials to support meetings, forums and workshops.  Identify strategic opportunities, develop an action plan and submit to the SLP COP for review and consideration;

d.    Establish effective communications outreach programs for a newly launched Sustainable Landscapes Partnership (SLP) program and time permitting other CI-Indonesia programs.

e.    Oversee and assist in dissemination of appropriate materials to targeted audiences;

f.     Provide technical know-how on communication and outreach aspect to communications/ outreach staffs in the fields;

g.    Develop media releases as and when necessary
 
Qualifications:
Required:
         A degree in communications, business of another related field with a minimum of 5 years’ practical experience;
 
         High level oral communication and negotiating skills, excellent writing and editing skills in both Bahasa Indonesia and English.
 
         An ability to work in a team and develop and maintain private-public partnership strategies that are effective at reaching the program’s target audiences.
 
         Demonstrated experience with the private sector, partnerships and communication media, especially with news placement and awareness campaigns.
 
         Computer skills and experience in relevant software (ie, MS Publisher, Pagemaker, Photoshop and/or similar media programs)
 
Preferred
·         Experience in use of photographic, audio/visual equipment, graphic design programs and presentations.
 
·         Familiar with or have some background in working with conservation NGOs.
