Barefoot Conservation is a new and exciting, not-for-profit
organisation that takes a fresh look at marine conversation and
community awareness. All of the Barefoot staff share the same passion
for making a real difference at a grass root level on all our projects.
Our focus is grass roots conservation and community action. Our aim
is to engage, educate and empower the local community to make
sustainable conservation a way of life, not just a project.
We are currently looking for an "Expedition Medic" for our Raja
Ampat, West Papua/Indonesia marine conservation projects through out
2014.
***One Expedition Medic position is available IMMEDIATELY***
This is a great opportunity to join an enthusiastic, energic team and
make a real difference in the worlds most bio-diverse marine region,
and one of the truly last diving frontiers.
A minimum 6 month voluntary post overseeing the general health and
safety of the expedition and providing medical treatment to the staff
and volunteers.
£1000 per annum end of contract bonus, free PADI dive training up to Divemaster.
Minimum Requirements
- 'post F2' doctor or senior nurse with 3-6 months A&E experience, completed two years as a junior doctor
- Scuba diving certification, minimum of PADI Advanced Open Water (AOW) or equivalent (this is not essential but desired)
Duties & Responsibilities
- To provide health care and emergency medical treatments to all company personel, expedition volunteers and local scholorship candidates
- Run a general health clinic for the local village communities
- Keep control of all medical supplier
- Maintenance and stock control of all medical supplies and equipment on site
- Enforcing policies of expedition health and safety on site
- Briefing on preventative hygiene on site
- Maintenance of medical records
- Submitting regular reports to head office and counterparts
