FAO Project Vacancy - National Consultant on Pest Surveilance, Jakarta

Project Reference : TCP/INS/3403 - Strengthening and Revitalization of Integrated Implementation and Pesticides Management System in Indonesia.
FAO Indonesia currently is looking for Candidate to fill in the position of NATIONAL CONSULTANT ON PEST SURVEILANCE

Terms of Reference for National-Consultant
(Pest Surveillance)

Duty Station : Jakarta, Indonesia.
Duration : 5 Weeks (35 Days) on When Actually Employed Basis

Under the overall supervison and guidance of the FAO Representative in Indonesia and the technical supervision of the FAO RAP (AGP), Bangkok and in close coordination with Director Plant Protection (National Project Coordinator) and in close cooperation with other consultants will undertake the following duties.

Tasks and Responsibilities :

1. Review of communication networking system related to pest monitoring, early warning and reporting pest out breaks and pest management activities among the pest observers, agriculture extension staff, farmer communities and other relevant stakeholders for further strengthening in consultation with the information management officer.


2. Develop appropriate guidelines for implementing e-pest surveillance system
 

3. Prepare plan for organizing trainings in e-pest surveillance for pest observers/agriculture Extension staff in three provinces covered under the Project in consultation with NPC.
 

4. Identify the equipment needs for undertaking e-pest surveillance and arrange for procurement of the same under the project
 

5. Prepare training manual for e-pest surveillance in rice for pest observers/agriculture extension staff.
 

6. Organizing training in e-pest surveillance in rice for pest observers/agriculture extension staff from six rice growing districts of three provinces covered under the project (three trainings, one for each province) with the assistance of local training facilitator; and the provider of ICT-enabled hand held digital devices.
 

7. Develop appropriate action plan for sustaining the e-pest surveillance activities in Indonesia.
 

8. Participate in National workshop on IPM/Pesticide Management/e-pest surveillance in rice at the end of the project and make presentation on the findings of mission and recommendations for further sustaining the e-pest surveillance activities in Indonesia
 

9. Prepare and submit the final mission report
Eligibility:
• Minimum qualification is master degree in any discipline of plant protection. Doctorate degree preferable. .
 

• Substantial experience in the field of plant protection and pest surveillance with special focus on e-pest surveillance
 

• Track record of experience of working on international projects, developing appropriate guidelines and organizing trainings in pest surveillance with special reference to e-pest surveillance.
