Conservation
International, an international non-governmental organization, is
seeking to fill a senior position of Deputy Chief of Party, Sustainable
Landscapes Partnership Program to be based in in Jakarta.
The
Sustainable Landscapes Partnership (SLP) program will establish a
replicable model of public-private partnerships that foster low carbon
development opportunities, thereby helping to address global climate
change and contribute to economic growth.
The
Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) will be responsible for CI-Indonesia
representation, leadership and management of the SLP program in North
Sumatra, Jakarta and other areas where directed. The DCOP will also
serve as a lead administrator of the SLP Project and will oversee all
administration, operations, finance, the identification, disbursement
and management of SLP grants to the private sector and other partners,
communications, and monitoring and evaluation activities
Responsibilities:
a. Oversight of SLP administration and operations including Administration, Finance, and Human Resource management;
b. The
DCOP will be expected to contribute significantly to the development
and completion of annual work plans and assist in tracking performance
together with the COP over the implementing year;
c. The
DCOP will also be expected to have in place systems and mechanisms to
identify, mitigate and where necessary management potential program
risks and issues;
d. The
DCOP will be expected together with the SLP Operations Manager review
and brief the SLP budget and financial position this will be done
together with the CI-I Operations Manager and CI-HQ personnel;
e. Where
required the DCOP may be required to provide support, leadership and CI
representation and decision-making to the SLP Management Council,
Associates Council and Steering Committee;
f. Within
SLP there is a focus on the donor and grant management functions to
make certain these functions are performed in a way to achieve maximum
effectiveness, efficiency and compliance and to adequately manage the
risk associated with these areas. It will be expected that the DCOP
will work closely with the SLP Grants Manager and the broader technical
team to develop future opportunities and maintain expected pipe-line and
burn rates;
g. The
DCOP will be required to work closely together with the SLP
Communications Team and more broadly with CI Communications personnel so
as to ensure high quality materials are produced in line with donor
standards and expectation and distributed effectively and efficiently to
key SLP stakeholders;
h. The
DCOP will be expected to assume a key day-to-day role in coordinating
and preparing reports and other materials linked with the monitoring and
evaluation requirements of the SLP. This will require the necessary
review, coordination and oversight so as to ensure that reporting
against performance and alignment to donor expectations from an
administrative standpoint; including tracking timelines, efficiencies,
and addressing under-performing areas;
i. Provide
support and direction for operations and administration specific to SLP
which will require close coordination with SLP regional offices;
j. Where necessary drive and support any SLP recruitment exercises that might be required;
k. The DCOP will be expected to work with the SLP Senior Management Team to ensure regular weekly meetings are conducted
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or similar field 7 years and a preference for 15 years of experience.
• At least 3 years’ experience as Deputy Chief of Party for major AID agencies or equivalent experience.
• Proven
leadership in the administration of similar complex international
programs with skills in strategic planning, management, supervision and
budgeting.
• An experienced leader with international not for profit experience.
• An
energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with excellent
facilitation skills to involve strategic contributors in key processes
leading them to reach agreements.
• Ability to challenge the status quo or individual actions that may violate CI policy or create risk for CI.
• A well-organized and self-directed individual who is "politically savvy" and a team player.
• An
articulate individual with ability to establish relationships and that
can relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses
excellent communication skills.
• An excellent negotiator who has worked in dynamic and changing environments.
• An expert to identify trends and tendencies using analytical and synthesizing skills.
• A thinker to plan, prioritize and implement with a strategic approach.
• Able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and to skillfully gather and analyze information.
• Capable
of projecting credibility to gain the respect and be able to influence
leaders and others over whom there is no direct supervisory authority.
Preferred
• Where
possible a technical area of expertise and experience that might
include but not be restricted too: forestry, communications, natural
resource management, governance and policy, private sector experience or
agricultural background.
• Experience working in Indonesia or Asia more broadly.
