Position Summary
The overall objective of the Bamboo Project is
to increase adaptation capacity of Cemarajaya Village towards sea level rise
and tidal wave caused by climate change effects. The role of Community
Organizer is to increase community capacity adaptation and mitigation on
climate change effects by facilitating community to draft coastal management
plan & village budgeting.
Responsibilities
The Bamboo CO is responsible to facilitate community meetings,
trainings and assist community leaders to effectively implement community based
coastal management, supervising bamboo groynes piledriving & mangrove
planting, building networking with Government/NGOs/University and other relevant
actions that aligned with objectives and overall goal of Bamboo project.
The role involves a
high degree of good communication and community participatory analysis of
vulnerability and resilience to effectively facilitate and mobilize the
communities in project area. The Field Officer is responsible for providing
regular report to ADRA Indonesia’s Project Manager and suggesting creative and
innovative approaches to make the Bamboo Project effectively triggers the
community’s self-awareness and mobilization.
Qualifications Required
· Interpersonal
skill in order to building relationship with community leaders and government.
· Equipped
with skill on sustainable livelihood analysis to discover community assets,
vulnerabilities and to build community resilience.
· Able
to use GPS and skills to assist people for transect process, draft village planning
and budgeting.
· Understanding
coastal management, disaster risk reduction, training management and popular
education considerations.
· University
degree in Geography or minimum 3 years working experience in coastal management.
Job Descriptions
The Bamboo Community Organizer will undertake design and
implementation of coastal management with village team. S/he will encourage
community leaders to mapping community assets, vulnerabilities, trends and
facilitate village develop planning to increase their adaptation and mitigation
capacity. To monitor village team and community cadres and to ensure good
coordination and communication with strategic stakeholder in find ways to
increase community capacity adaptation and trigger community
understanding to the need for DRR management. To effectively facilitate and
mobilize the communities in the project area, the Community Organizer is required to undertake
the following tasks:
1. Designing monthly
planning and implementing Bamboo Project based on the detailed implementation
plan (DIP) to encourage community participation.
2. Assisting community
to develop basic map using GPS and maps that identify hazards of sea level
rise, tidal waves and sea temperature increasing parameter.
3. Assisting village
coastal management team in designing their preferred future map, supervising
the implementation and monitoring evaluation
4. Proposing ways of
improvement of Bamboo Project methodology, strategy and technical matter that
adjusted to local context and resources, and possibilities to replicate the
project to other regions.
5. Preparing the monthly
activity reports and other reports as required to Project Manager.
