Background
The American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (“ABA ROLI”) is a non-governmental` organization of the American Bar Association, which for 25 years has promoted the rule of law worldwide in collaboration with local partners.
ABA ROLI Indonesia is implementing a three-year program entitled, ‘Strengthening ASEAN's Human Rights System’. This program works with lawyers and human rights defenders in ASEAN to advocate for improvement to the Association for Southeast Asia (ASEAN) human rights institutions.
ABA ROLI in Indonesia is currently seeking an intern to work on this program for a period of three months. There is a potential for this position to develop into a longer-term position, depending upon the availability of funding and individual performance. The position would suit a recent graduate, looking to begin a career in the field of international human rights.
Work Schedule and Remuneration 5 days per weekfrom 9am-5pm. An allowance of IDR 150.000 per day of attendance will be paid to cover travel expenses and lunch.

Work Responsibilities
- Organize logistics for regional trainings;
- Conduct media monitoring and prepare a news updates on ASEAN and significant human issues in Southeast Asia region;
- Prepare training materials;
- Conduct research on human rights and legal issues;
- Where possible, participate in meetings and events related to ASEAN and human rights issues;
- Submit a final report upon the completion of the internship.
Qualifications
The internship is open to graduates of law or international relations. Applicants should be well-organized, self-motivated, and reliable, with a strong interest in human rights and current affairs in Southeast Asia. Good research skills, fluency in English and computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office, Internet applications) are required.
