Eawag Job Vacancy: Project FORWARD (From Organic Waste to Recycle for Development), Surabaya

FORWARD (From Organic Waste to Recycle for Development) is a non-profit R&D project funded by SECO, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, under a framework agreement with the Kementerian PU-PR

The project embeds innovative technological and managerial approaches to organic waste processing using the Black Soldier Fly (BSF). In the current extension phase of FORWARD, the project supports the local government of Surabaya (Dinas Kebersihan dan Ruang Terbuka Hijau / DKRTH) and our private partners to develop their BSF-facilities. We are now looking for fresh graduates who are interested to learn the techniques and become a BSF expert intern.

Requirements:

• Men/Women
• D3/S1 from Biology, Fishery, Agriculture, or Environmental Engineering
• Own a motorcycle and driving license
• Having good English language skills will be an advantage
• Able to use Microsoft Office
• Able to work with insects and waste
• Surabaya citizens are preferred
• Willing to reside at another BSF site

As a BSF expert intern you will:

• Learn about organic waste management using the BSF and implement the technology
• Develop the site and training of site managers on BSF rearing and organic waste conversion
• Get a certificate of completion as a BSF expert intern
• Get an intern compensation IDR 1,000,000/month over 3 months of contract

After completing the internship, there will be a possibility for you to work as staff at sites of our project partners by:

• Developing the site and training site managers as well as doing market analysis for BSF derived products in local markets
• Training of site managers on post-processing BSFL
• Monitoring the operation at the site
