USAID - CEGAH Project Job Vacancy: Copy Editor, Jakarta

Copy Editor
USAID CEGAH, Jakarta, Indonesia
Project Summary:
CEGAH is a 5-year USAID-funded accountability and integrity program that works with a wide range of Indonesian governmental and non-governmental agencies. The program runs between 2016 and 2021. The project is implemented by Management Systems International (MSI).
Position Summary:
As the project enters the second half of its implementation period, its research interventions are generating an increasing volume of written material. In order to ensure that learning from this research is easily accessible to USAID and other interested audiences outside of Indonesia, USAID CEGAH seeks to recruit a consultant to ensure these products are of the highest quality as they are translated from Bahasa Indonesia and prepared for submission in English.
The Copy Editor reports to the Senior Knowledge Manager and edits publications, products, and event materials as assigned in order to correct grammatical errors, ensure stylistic compliance with USAID and MSI guidelines, and overall enhance readability of the project’s written products. Many products will have been originally written in Bahasa Indonesia and subsequently translated into an English draft. However, the Copy Editor may occasionally be tasked with reviewing materials drafted in English.
Responsibilities:
The Copy Editor will support the USAID CEGAH project’s communications team, and will be tasked with editing a variety of products, ensuring that they are free of errors and otherwise meet established quality expectations. In detail, responsibilities include the following:
  • To support the timely review and revision of project publications, products, event materials and official correspondence.
  • To ensure written products reflect established USAID and MSI style guides
  • To ensure written products are free of spelling, typographical, grammatical, and other errors, and otherwise adopt natural, native English-speaking structures and phrasing
General provisions and limitations:
  • All final decisions related to this Project are made by the COP and authorized MSI/HQ personnel.
  • Any communication with USAID is under the authority of the COP and authorized MSI/HQ personnel.
Qualifications:
  • Must be a native English speaker with 3-5 years of previous experience in publishing, journalism, or corporate communications
  • Prior experience on USAID programs a plus
  • Proven attention to detail
  • Ability to work under tight timelines, with little oversight
  • Bahasa Indonesia skills are a plus, but are not required
Compensation:
  • Well-qualified candidates may earn a daily rate of between $200-250, based on qualifications and demonstrable salary history.
Application should include a CV (including three references) and contact information by August 23rd, 2019 at the latest. Please send applications to info@msi-cegah.com. Only candidates who have been selected for an interview will be contacted. No phone calls, please.
