in Indonesia is changing for the better. We've begun to build a
national organization that aims to be a strong, local, and
self-sustaining voice for children in Indonesia. To this end, SC
Indonesia has been designated as a “Prospect
Member”. As ‘Prospect Member’ Indonesia has been identified as
part of the next way of new member development, which focuses on
strengthening and localizing our voice for children in strategic middle
income countries. Indonesia has been authorized by
member ballot to start fundraising locally as a first step towards
building a financially sustainable local organization. Future work will
also involve developing a strong local governance structure and building
key partnerships with local government, the
private sector, local civil society among others. Success of the pilot
phase will set the Indonesia on a pathway to full membership. We are
currently seeking to fill the following position:
Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Assistant
1 Position in Kupang, NTT
ROLE PURPOSE:
Making Early Education Matter Through Books and Community Action (MEMBACA) 2 Project
is a literacy boost program developed by Save the Children which
is implemented in Kupang district. The aims to improve quality of
education and focusing on boosting the literacy skill of early grade
students.
We will reach 1700 children in 12 primary schools. We will build the capacities of 12
schools principals, 5 schools supervisors, 36
schools committee members and
72 primary school teachers. MEMBACA
will work with 360 parents and 8 head of villages to plan
and deliver quality education services. We will work together primarily
with the District Planning Offices (Bappeda) and Education Offices (DEO)
for the coordination
and implementation of the Activity. The Activity will be implemented in Kupang districts of NTT province, over 3,6 years.
The Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning Assistant will be responsible to
ensure proper design and implementation
of the
MEAL system
including disseminating
results to
stakeholders,
and involving children and community members.
In
the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be
expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary
working hours accordingly.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Bachelor Degree in Public health/ Statistic/ Education/ Social science
- Proven experience in research or monitoring or evaluation.
- Excellent in social and in interpersonal skills.
- Familiar with in statistical software: Excel, SSPS, SPINX, STATA.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively within set time frames and with demonstrated impact.
- Proven experience of working closely within team.
- Independently travel to field regularly.
- Proven experiences in working with children.
- Proven skills on community development and mobilization and work closely with key stakeholders.
- Have experiences work in West Timor (desirable), ability to speak local language is preferable
- Ability to communicate and writing in English
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential
- Knowledge and skills in methods to promote improvements in early grade primary education on literacy skills
- Proven skills to develop an implementation plan and then efficiently implement activities
Desirable
- Exposure to the non-profit sector and/or developing countries is preferred
- Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
- Experience of solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy-in
