Save the Children Job Vacancy: Child Rights Situational Analysis of the Waste Supply Chain in Makassar – South Sulawesi

Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik partner of Save the Children in Indonesia is changing for the better.  We've begun to build a national organisation that aims to be a strong, local, and self-sustaining voice for children in Indonesia namely Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik Tunas Cilik.  To this end, Yayasan has been designated as a “Prospect Member of Save the Children” which focuses on strengthening and localizing our voice for children in strategic middle income countries. Currently Save the Children’s programs in Indonesia is implemented by Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik. We work in eleven provinces, have staff of approximately 400 local professionals, and programming in Child Protection, Education, Health and Nutrition, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Humanitarian Response. We are currently seeking to fill the following position:
Position: Child Rights Situational Analysis of the Waste Supply Chain in Makassar – South Sulawesi
The objective of the study is as follows:
  • To identify and assess the risk of child labour, including the worst forms, in the waste materials supply chain. To include a mapping of the scavenger activities in the landfills of Makassar and identify where children are most at risk along the chain. To make this analysis, it is necessary to first undertake a supply chain analysis within Antang landfills. The entire waste supply chain including tiers 1,2, 3 etc. will be mapped, including e.g. waste pickers, collectors, traders and transporting.
  • In addition to child labour, assess other vulnerabilities and child rights violations among children engaged in informal waste management work.
  • Assess availability of families/households working in informal waste management to social protection schemes and alternative livelihoods opportunities and provide recommendations on how to improve access and availability to both social protection schemes and alternative livelihoods.
  • Assess accessibility and availability of children working in informal waste management to skills training and non-formal education.
  • Identify institutions who are working in child rights development sector in the city of Makassar including its focuses.
