Title: Communication Consultant for SD4ALL Programme
Duty Station: Jakarta, Indonesia
Duration: 2 (two) months ( mid September to mid November 2017)
Report to: Regional Advocacy Officer for Sustainable Diets 4 ALL
Background
In January 2016, Hivos together with IIED launched a 5-year strategic partnership with the Dutch Government to transform the food system and promote sustainable diets.
Sustainable diets are healthy and diverse, respectful of ecosystems, culturally acceptable and economically fair and affordable for all. Together with civil society organizations, the programme aims to influence the policies and practices of governments and the private sector.
The programme supports civil society organizations to increase their capacity to influence policy and practices of market and government actors through citizen research, action and related advocacy to promote sustainable diets for all.
The programme also supports civil society organisations to work with frontrunner movements, companies, local governments and the media to generate change at both the producer and consumer level. It will engage with farmers, food vendors, governments, private sector and other civil society organisations to create coalitions of the willing for resilient and diverse regions and cities.
This programme is running in Latin America, Southeast Asia (Indonesia) and Africa. In Indonesia, our programme is implemented in Bandung and Jember, further that that we are also engaging our cooperation national and international wide with the Government of Indonesia.
Objective
The Communication Consultant develops communication strategies, support Hivos brand awareness, organizes online and offline communication activities (Age of Wonderland 2017, Festival Egrang 2017 in Jember, Bandung Food Change Lab 2017, World Food Day 2017 Campaign, Forum for Young Indonesians 2017, and Asia Pacific EAT Forum 2017), develops and disseminates communication materials and enables the Hivos community and its partners to communicate effectively.
Scope of Work
The following are the responsibility of the communication consultant.
Age of Wonderland – 21st September 2017
- Create a concept for photo stories of Age of Wonderland event
- Create photo stories for Age of Wonderland event that meets Hivos qualification. The Photo stories final production shall be upon discussion with Hivos
- Create a storytelling stories for Age of Wonderland 2017 event
- Publish the Age of Wonderland event on social media (Facebook and Twitter)
- Create a concept for photo stories of Festival Egrang event
- Create photo stories of Festival Egrang event that meets Hivos qualification. The Photo stories final production shall be upon discussion with Hivos
- Create a storytelling stories for Festival Egrang event
- Create a short video concept from Festival Egrang event
- Create a short video from Festival Egrang event. The video will upload on Hivos Youtube account. The communication consultant should be in coordination with Hivos IT officer to enable this activity.
- Publish the Festival Egrang event on social media (Facebook and Twitter)
Bandung Food Change Lab – process with Theory U (September-October 2017)
- Coordinate with Riset Indie (Hivos partner in Bandung) to create publication of the Lab process, including at least one news item
- Actively communicate with the global communications officer at Hivos Global Office in creating global campaign theme.
- Create a photo campaign concept for Global World Food Day Campaign.
- Create photo campaign series for Global World Food Day 2017 that meets Hivos qualification.
- Develops and execute the twitter series campaign
- Publish and disseminate the campaign material through Hivos communication channels (website, social media, WA groups) and networks.
- Manage the event of Forum for Young Indonesian and actively communicate with the organizing committee of this event, especially for Hivos side event
- Manage Hivos brand awareness throughout the event
- Actively publish the announcement of this event through Hivos communications channel (Facebook, Twitter, website, etc.) and attract the public (youth) interest for this event
- Responsible for the documentation of the event (photo, video, and news item for Hivos website)
- Create press release and press kit (brochure and gimmick) for this event and invites the journalist to come to the event.
- Monitoring the media news and create analysis from the coverage clipping.
Asia Pacific (APF) EAT Forum – 31st October 2017
- Manage the event of Asia Pacific EAT Forum 2017 and actively communicate with the organizing committee of this event, especially for Hivos side event
- Manage Hivos brand awareness throughout the event
- Actively publish the announcement of this event through Hivos communication channels (Facebook, Twitter, website, etc,) and attract the public interest for SD4All relevant themes addressed in this event
- Responsible for the documentation of the event (photo, video, and news item for Hivos website)
- Create press release and press kit (brochure and gimmick) for this event and invites the journalist to come to the event.
- Monitoring the media news and create analysis from the coverage clipping.
- Photo stories from Age of Wonderland and Festival Egrang Event (the number of pictures should be upon agreement with Hivos)
- A storytelling stories from each Age of Wonderland 2017 and Festival Egrang 2017 event
- A short video from Festival Egrang 2017
- A news item from Bandung Food Change Lab – in coordination with Riset Indie
- Photo campaign series for World Food Day 2017
- Documentation of FYI and APF EAT Forum
- Press release and press kit for FYI and APF EAT Forum
- The list of media coverage of FYI and APF EAT Forum
- A journalist database from FYI and APF EAT Forum
- Media coverage clipping and analysis from FYI and APF event
- A social media clipping from Age of Wonderland 2017, Festival Egrang 2017, World Food Day Campaign 2017, FYI event and APF Forum.
- A social media report from World Food Day Campaign, and FYI event and APF EAT Forum
- Final report that includes process, result, documentation, and recommendations.
The consultant will work for 2 (two) months (mid-September 2017 – mid November 2017) maximum 25 days. Working days is flexible
Knowledge, experiences and competencies
We are seeking an Indonesian person (preferably based in Greater Jakarta area) with the following qualities:
- Affinity for Hivos’ vision and mission and are driven by a strong motivation to contribute to real and lasting change.
- Knowledge of and experience in the field of international development cooperation and excellent skills in the development and implementation of communication strategies.
- Interest and knowledge in sustainable food issues.
- Know how to reach your target groups through innovative and conventional media.
- Excellent writing and organizational skills.
- 5 years of working experience, in particular with corporate and campaigning, communication, copywriting for another similar website and use of social media.
- Strong communicator in both English and Bahasa.
- Innovative and flexible and able to work in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders and international partners.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, excellent knowledge of corporate communication and branding, experience with content management systems, and preferably with image editing.
