GIZ Vacancy: Junior Communication Advisor for ASEANRESP Project, Jakarta

Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is the German International Cooperation implementing sustainable development on behalf of the German Government.

GIZ has a record of more than 20 years of involvement in renewable energy (RE) in Indonesia. Starting from rural electrification and mini hydropower, the portfolio expanded to other renewable energies and larger grid connected systems such as biomass/biogas and photovoltaics (PV). Moreover, GIZ has widened its working area in energy efficiency (EE) starting from July 2014. GIZ through its energy programme Indonesia/ASEAN in cooperation with the “Directorate General for New and Renewable Energies and Energy Conservation (DG NREEC)“ is presently implementing three different projects which among others: Energising Development (EnDev) Indonesia, Promotion of Least Cost Renewable Energy (LCORE), and Green Chillers.

In region of the Association of South East Asia Nations (ASEAN), GIZ Energy Programme Indonesia/ ASEAN supports the ASEAN member states to improve the regional framework of renewable energy through Renewable Energy Support Programme for ASEAN (ASEAN-RESP). The project is implemented by ASEAN Center for Energy and GIZ.

GIZ aims to strengthen capacity building in the Indonesian energy sector and strives to support implementation and quality insurance of various renewable and energy efficiency applications.

GIZ Energy Program seeks qualified Indonesian candidates for one position

Junior Communication Advisor
  1. General Responsibilities
  • Supporting and coordinate the communication and media related matters within the Energy Programme Indonesia/ASEAN
  • Ensuring linguistic quality for projects and partner documents in English/Bahasa Indonesia, including Managing reports editing
  • Supporting knowledge management together with project’s knowledge focal points
  • Maintaining information and knowledge dissemination within the Energy Programme Indonesia/ASEAN, GIZ projects, and with relevant stakeholders
  • Maintaining social media (e.g. Facebook pages, Instagram, Twitter) and project websites in coordination with communication and media manager and project advisors
  • Organising and providing updates of communication and media database from all projects within Energy Programme Indonesia/ASEAN, (e.g. stakeholders database, media database, publications and products database, etc.)
  • Coordinating cooperation with external communication service providers (e.g. appraisers, agencies, photographers, trainers, copywriters)
  • Providing regular reports related to communication and media work (e.g. quarterly monitoring reports of HERE, evaluation reports of implemented workshops and published publications, etc.)
  • Working closely with the Multimedia Professional in maintenance update of multimedia library (e.g. video, photos, infographics), and creating multimedia products for all projects within GIZ Energy Programme Indonesia/ASEAN
B.    Tasks
        Assisting the Communication and Media Manager in:
  1. Developing and implementing communication and PR strategy of Energy Programme Indonesia/ASEAN
  2. Fostering communication products coherence and consistency among projects in the Energy Programme Indonesia/ASEAN
  3. Maintenance of the synergy of communication and PR activities among Energy Programme Indonesia/ASEAN
  4. Provide advise/input to advisors on communication and media related matters
  5. Actively gathering information about the project activities e.g. through interviewing advisors and issuing articles and short summaries ready to be published
  6. Maintenance of international and national PR work, which includes:
    1. Implement and daily - basis apply the suitable communication tools for national, regional and international dissemination of information
    2. Coordinating necessary processes to produce publications and materials in accordance with GIZ and partner standards (corporate design, project design, standards for content)
    3. Supporting the organisation of events (workshops, seminars, conferences, etc.)
    4. Managing the various project websites and coordinating the regular update with the advisors/project focal persons
  7. Supporting press related work, which includes:
    1. Coordinating all media activities (drafting and sending out press releases, compiling assembling and distributing media information materials for specific target groups and coordinating with the GIZ Office regarding public relations work)
    2. Managing compilation of regular media review (documentation and analysis of relevant media reports on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in Indonesia/ASEAN)
  8. Reporting to the Communication and Media Manager
  9. Editing of articles for Internal Communication Instruments
  10. Support in Creation of Marketing Activities for relevant GIZ Energy Programme Indonesia/ASEAN activities
  11. Control in the production of communication measures & publications in line with the GIZ standards and briefing of external communications service providers (consultants, designers, photographers, trainers, printers)
  12. Design & Layout Quality Control for relevant Project Publications
  13. Supporting the projects in preparing and developing project publication materials according to the GIZ corporate design guidelines
C.    Required qualifications, competences and experience

        Qualifications:
  • BA or comparable qualification, journalism, PR/communications or comparable
     
    Professional experience:
  • 1-3 years in a comparable position
     
    Other knowledge, additional competences:
  • ability to express oneself well both verbally and in writing; polished, diplomatic, target-group oriented style
  • social, intercultural understanding and interest, flexibility, ability to work in team, sense of diplomacy
  • insight into the International Development Cooperation work
  • first experience in project and/or event management and editorial experience, experience in writing articles and press releases are regarded a plus
  • very good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
  • proficiency in English and Bahasa Indonesia is essential, German language is regarded a plus
  • willingness to up skill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
