About the NCD Asia Pacific AllianceA unique network of government, academic, and civil society organizations and individuals spanning 25 countries (and counting), the NCD Asia Pacific Alliance was established to catalyze concerted regional action in response to the growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Working across traditional boundaries, the Alliance serves as a platform for collaboration and joint advocacy on primary prevention and control of NCDs and their associated risk factors.

The NCD Asia Pacific Alliance is dedicated to leading the regional fight against non-communicable diseases (NCDs) by facilitating and enhancing regional coordination of activities, multi-stakeholder engagement, and action across sectors at the local, national, regional, and global levels. To these ends, our activities center around two core Alliance functions:
  • To serve as a central clearinghouse for NCD knowledge and best practices in the region.
    • The Alliance serves as a data repository, a campaign hub, a platform for advocacy, and a resource for sharing information among the wider regional and global NCD community. Through the Alliance, partners showcase their current research and initiatives on NCDs, generate and exchange ideas, and share best practices. In this way, the platform contributes to advancing scientific knowledge and promoting knowledge transfer in the interests of better NCD prevention and treatment.
  • To facilitate partnerships for NCD research and capacity development.
    • Stakeholders wishing to implement new initiatives or to inform and support existing ones can request Alliance support in connecting with appropriate experts in the field. The Alliance thus acts as a liaison between members from different member countries, providing introductions and facilitating mutually beneficial collaborations among relevant stakeholders.
    • The Alliance focus areas include a range of issues pertaining to major NCDs and their associated risk factors, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, cancer, mental health, overweight/obesity, unhealthy diet, harmful use of alcohol, tobacco control, and intersecting burdens of persistent infectious disease (e.g., HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria).
