The Australian Government has been providing support
for the legal and justice sector in Indonesia for more than 10 years. In 2011,
Australia Indonesia Partnership for Justice (AIPJ) started a five-year new
program.
AIPJ focuses on the effort to “Fulfilling Rights,”
which has been defined to include the rights to obtain legal identity (birth
certificate, marriage certificate and divorce certificate), to be judged by a
fair, clean and accessible court system and to obtain information (about legal
proceeding).
AIPJ is looking for pools of editors to
support day to day program operations and the development of key program
publications.
Under the direction of the AIPJ
Communications Coordinator, to edit English or Bahasa Indonesia documents based on
three separate levels of service:
1. Substantive/Developmental Editing
including-
- Work with AIPJ to develop copy,
rewrite/edit copy to improve readability, flow and style
- Read copy or proof to detect and correct errors
in spelling, punctuation, and syntax.
- Suggest adjustments to language for the
target audience
- Ensure consistency with appropriate style
2. Copyediting including-
- Work with final copy provided by AIPJ
- Read copy or proof to detect and correct
errors in spelling, punctuation, and syntax.
- Suggest rewrites or suggest alternative
wordings.
- Suggest adjustments to language for the
target audience
- Ensure consistency with appropriate style
3. Proofreading including-
- Work with final copy provided by AIPJ
- Read copy or proof to detect and correct
errors in spelling, punctuation, and syntax
- Ensure consistency with appropriate style
Selection Criteria
Interested applicants should have the
following qualifications:
- Minimum a university degree in communications, journalism or another relevant area.
- Minimum five years experiences in providing professional services as an editor or communications professional
- English or Bahasa Indonesia native speaker
- Desirable previous experience with International Development or Justice/Human Right.
Coordination and Reporting
The editor will work to the AIPJ
Communications Coordinator and at times be required to liaise with the Deputy
Team Leader.
