Job Title: Agri - Field Staff

Job Title of Immediate Supervisor: Lombok Project Coordinator

Work Location: Mataram

Status Categories:  Term of Assignment: 1 year / Full-Time, Renewable

GENERAL FUNCTION: 
This position provides service to World Relief Lombok in accordance with the Integrated Community Development Program in North Lombok to develop and supervise the agriculture component of the program.

POSITION IN ORGANISATION
  • Reports to the Lombok Program Manager and Agriculture Project Officer
  • Work closely with the Partners and volunteers. 
  • Liaises closely with senior officials of organizations. 
  • Liases Closely with Agriculture government institutions in designated area.
SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES:
Project Management, Development and Reporting
  • In coordination with partners and other stakeholders, undertake detailed analysis and design appropriate project interventions to meet identified needs and strengthen local capacities in accordance with World Relief concept of Sustainable Agriculture. 
  • Develop and implement technical aspects of the Agriculture project as to achieve program goals according to the area context. 
  • Study area farm crop in order to discern the best ways to plant, harvest, and cultivate the plants, regardless of the climate. 
  • Making detailed reports with recommendations to the management team regarding community agriculture needs, vulnerabilities and capacities and appropriate responses. 
  • Participate in project evaluations and assist in the analysis of results to assess project impact and effective use of resources. 
  • Assist the Agriculture Project Officer to ensure the timely compilation of situation updates, project and monthly narrative reports for field in accordance with required reporting formats.
Technical Assistance
  • Provide support to Project Officer to ensure effective management and timely implementation of work plans and budgets. 
  • Provide monitoring on the agriculture program in the field.
Good Practice and Institutional Learning
  • Ensure that activities are carried out in accordance with signatory codes of conduct and accepted good practice. 
  • Assist the Project Officer to identify key lessons learnt from project reviews and evaluations. 
  • Encourage learning from sector staff and identify case study themes / issues from project experience for analysis, dialogue and possible formulation into emerging best practice.
External Relationships / Representation
  • Build positive working relationships with local communities, sub-district and district government officials, local community leaders, farmer association groups and other NGO representatives. 
  • Attend relevant inter-agency coordination meetings as required, particularly at sub-district level. 
  • Attend relevant inter-agency workshops, conferences and sector coordination meetings as required. 
  • Keep informed of sector developments and key initiatives. 
  • Host occasional visits to project sites by interested personnel
Work Environment
  • This position is based in the WR Lombok Office with possible travel to field Office and project area. 
  • Working hours will be 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with possibility over time.

Knowledge and Skill
Minimum skills, education and experience required:
  • Relevant knowledge and qualifications up to degree level
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the agriculture project 
  • Proven knowledge about tropical crops like rice, rubber and cocoa etc. 
  • Knowledge about sustainable agriculture and agroforestry.
  • Have good knowledge of soil conservation
  • Good problem solving ability
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • A team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Able to handle and guard confidential information sensitively and discretely.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-culturally.
Preferences, but not required:
  • Ability to speak  one or more local dialect 
  • Ability to speak and write in English
