Overview
The
Conference Board of Canada (CBoC) is seeking a Gender Equality and
Environmental Protection Officer to support the development and
implementation Gender Equality and Environmental Protection Strategies
for the Indonesia-Canada Trade and Private Sector Assistance Project
(TPSA).
TPSA
is a five-year trade-related capacity building and trade/investment
promotion project for Indonesia, funded by the Department of Foreign
Affairs, Trade and Development of the Government of Canada, and executed
by CBoC. The project’s expected intermediate outcomes are: 1) increased
sustainable and gender-responsive trade and investment opportunities,
particularly for SMEs, between Indonesia and Canada; and 2) increased
use of trade and investment analysis and regulatory reform by Indonesian
stakeholders for expanded trade and investment partnerships between
Indonesia and Canada.
The
Gender Equality and Environmental Protection Officer is part of the
Jakarta office team, reporting to the TPSA Director, and will work
closely with the Senior Gender Equality Specialist and the Senior
Environment Specialist (Ottawa based).
Principal Tasks
The Gender Equality and Environmental Protection Officer
will actively address trade and investment issues related to gender and
environment for SMEs, and will conduct specific activities to ensure
the full integration of gender equality into project outcomes, promoting
environmentally responsible practices.
Tasks include:
- Identifying and reviewing relevant information on policies, laws and regulations related to trade and investment for impact on gender and environment in project sectors
- Identifying environmental and gender resources for the project, including disaggregated sources of data
- Building knowledge linkages with Indonesian organizations for improved understanding of gender and environment issues.
- Contributing to the development of Environmental and Gender Equality Strategies, the Performance Measurement Framework and annual workplans
- Monitoring progress of activities relating to gender and environment and preparing progress reports against indicators
- Preparing features for the website on gender and environment in TPSA
- Delivering training on gender and environmental issues related to TPSA
- Facilitating with the conduct and arranging for technical consultants with respect to gender analysis, engendered and environmental value chain analysis, environmental impact assessment, and cost benefit analysis
- Facilitating the organization of learning events for diverse stakeholders to disseminate project information and research
Skills and Qualifications
- Indonesian national;
- Degree in relevant discipline (e.g., sociology, economics, environment, gender, development studies, etc);
- 5+ years of professional international gender and environment related experience;
- Excellent interpersonal, team working, writing and presentation skills;
- Excellent verbal and written Bahasa Indonesia communication skills;
- Good verbal and written English communication skills;
- Multi-sectoral contacts would be an advantage.
