United
in Diversity (UID) is a nonprofit foundation based in Jakarta, and
founded in 2003 by Universitas Indonesia, Massachusetts Institute of
Technology Sloan School of Management, and Sinar Harapan with the goal
to promote engagement among the public, private and civil society
sectors and to foster understanding and collaboration among the three
sectors for the betterment of Indonesia.
To
further its mission, UID together with MIT Sloan School of Management
have been jointly coordinating and delivering a program called IDEAS
(Innovative, Dynamic Education and Action for Sustainability) Indonesia
since the year 2006. It is an executive education program that engages
leaders from the private sector, public sector and civil society to hone
their skills as bridging leaders. The program’s uniqueness in
emphasizing the power of collective intelligence and tri-sectoral
collaboration is a reflection of UID’s vision to contribute to a united
and peaceful Indonesia through synergy among the diverse constituents of
its society. In accordance to the above belief, IDEAS Indonesia’s
graduating fellows are a mix of young leaders from the
print and electronic media, educational institutions, public services,
environmental non-governmental organizations, as well as the corporate
world.
UID is currently seeking the right person to coordinate their extensive and growing network of IDEAS Indonesia alumni.
Core Mission
- To build trust for a better Indonesia and a sustainable world.
- To nurture the hub or platform of UIDEAS community (UID and IDEAS Fellows), to strengthen the continued practice of the philosophies learnt through IDEAS (U theory and Learning Organization/Fifth Discipline), and to encourage collaboration and co-creation across sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet and build personal rapport with all the IDEAS Fellows and understand each one’s interests, aspirations. Explore areas in which they can collaborate with UID.
- Organize monthly activities co-led by fellows and arrange themed solutions-based workshops and roundtable discussions to align UID’s mission with the aspirations of the fellows.
- Set up an effective system for encouraging and engaging IDEAS Fellows as volunteers.
- Be responsible for all communications, activities and publications both within the UIDEAS community as well as with the public.
Specific Responsibilities
- Identify and manage IDEAS volunteers.
- Design, plan, publicise and execute an annual program of alumni events that maximize attendance and generate concrete outcomes engaging the tri-sectors.
- Manage events and programs including networking, reunions, continuing development with UID and the MIT faculty, master classes, and special events.
- Promote positive projects for Indonesia that encourage involvement by Fellows, including preparing promotional materials.
- Prepare, edit and disseminate regular correspondence to Fellows. Manage all social media and create content by populating with alumni interviews, highlight ongoing projects, interesting articles etc.
- Assist Fellows who are continuing to work on prototypes with networking as well as access to appropriate resources.
- Connect fellows with each other for specific purposes to further win/win outcomes.
- Organize study trips and shadowing experiences to ongoing projects in consultation with fellows or UID faculty.
- Organize regular seminars and expert discussions by visiting luminaries as well as by prominent Fellows.
Personal Qualifications and Qualities
- Degree in Arts, Business Administration or equivalent discipline.
- At least 2 years of sound working experience in a related field.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills in English as well as Indonesian.
- Ability to communicate with audiences from diverse backgrounds and the media.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish relations with leaders from across sectors.
- Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with user communities.
- Sound organizational and time-management skills, with an ability to manage and prioritize several tasks concurrently.
- Excellent IT literacy, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Social media savvy with ability to navigate existing innovative social networking tools. Knowledge of web design and web administration an advantage.
- Experienced in writing press releases, news articles and letters.
- Experienced in designing, organizing and running events.
- Proactive, possesses high integrity, is self-motivated, and capable of discretion.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team, a good sense of humor, and a ‘can do’ attitude.
