Position Title: Project Manager

Job Description
World Education Indonesia is seeking a Project Manager for a proposed project that aims to support primary school libraries and children’s book publishing in Indonesia by providing project management, technical assistance and monitoring to implementing partner organizations.

The Project Manager will be responsible for technical and administrative oversight of the project.

Location: The position will be based in Jakarta, with frequent travel to two to three other provinces.

Project Duration: Two years, from 1 July 2014 through 30 June 2016.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide oversight and support to partner organizations to ensure the effective and timely implementation of activities.
  • Coordinate logistics and co-facilitate technical assistance workshops for partner organizations.
  • Develop and ensure timely execution of project workplan and monitoring mechanisms.
  • Facilitate communication between partners and the project funder, and with World Education management and technical staff in Jakarta and the USA.
  • Supervise and mentor project technical and finance/administrative support staff.
  • Provide ongoing support and monitoring for partners, including quarterly site visits to observe trainings and activities, meet with stakeholders, and conduct reflection meetings with partner organizations.
  • Adapt and translate project implementation modules for the Indonesia context.
  • Document and share progress, challenges, and lessons learned in semi-annual reports and a final case study.
  • With finance staff, monitor project budgeting and spending, including financial reporting from partner organizations.
  • Represent the program to donors, authorities, local partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Foster relationships with local authorities and other stakeholders to ensure program buy-in.
Qualifications and Requirements
Required:
  • Indonesian citizen.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Bahasa Indonesia. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, community/international development, or related area.
  • 5-7 years of experience in coordinating or managing development projects, including workshop/meeting facilitation skills, monitoring and evaluation, budgeting, planning, and report writing.
  • Excellent communication skills, including report writing, and computer skills.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Possess a strong attention to detail, with good organizational and coordination skills.
  • Able to travel frequently.
  • Demonstrated success in building relationships with multiple stakeholders. 
Desired:
  • Experience in developing and conducting training programs for teachers and monitoring classroom activities.
  • Understanding of the Indonesia curriculum and teaching methodologies, especially related to early grade reading.
  • Knowledge and experience in videography and editing, and the ability to share this knowledge.
