Vacancy in Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) : Project Research Assistant for Yogyakarta

Established in 1888 Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) is one of Germany’s longest established and largest social welfare organisations. ASB entered Indonesia following the May 2006 earthquake and has established projects in emergency relief; reconstruction and training; information and outreach; disaster preparedness and livelihoods sectors. ASB is a key player in disaster risk reduction education and a regional leader in providing innovative DRR services and solutions to people with disabilities.

ASB is currently seeking expressions of interest from qualified and committed individuals for the following position:
 
Project Research Assistant
 
Location: Yogyakarta, Indonesia (with travel to Jakarta, Central Java, West Java and West Sumatra).
Duration: 10 months contract (including 3 month probation period)
Start: Immediate
Vacancy: National position
Salary: ASB offers a competitive salary package commensurate with experience

Summary of job profile:

This position is primarily to assist in organisation of project data and documents including input, filing and analysis and to prepare logistics for meetings (with stakeholders) and trainings. The Project Research Assistant reports to the Team Leader and is expected to coordinate closely with other project members. The position includes both field and office work.

Desirable qualifications:

  • University degree in statistics, social sciences or similar.  
  • Experience of data storage and analysis software an advantage, especially: SPSS and Microsoft Excel. 
  • Strong organisational skills. 
  • Understanding of action-research, or similar research methods, preferred. 
  • Knowledge on DRR an advantage. 
  • Understanding of disability and inclusion required. 
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Bahasa Indonesia and English language skills.
  • Efficiency, flexibility, creative thinking, and punctuality valued.
  • Suitably motivated candidates with limited previous development experience may be considered.
