Associate Advisor II – Renewable Energy
SNV Netherlands Development Organisation
SNV is a not-for-profit
international development organisation. Founded in the Netherlands nearly 50
years ago, we have built a long-term, local presence in 38 of the poorest
countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Our global team of local and
international advisors work with local partners to equip communities,
businesses and organisations with the tools, knowledge and connections they
need to increase their incomes and gain access to basic services – empowering
them to break the cycle of poverty and guide their own development.
Since 2009, SNV has
been promoting domestic biogas as well as medium scale biogas in Indonesia that
is fed by cattle manure. SNV is now exploring possibilities of developing
biogas from other waste materials such as tofu waste, sea weed waste, coffee
waste, cassava waste and palm oil waste. The innovative waste to energy project
will be implemented in selected districts of NTB, South Sumatra, Java and
Central Kalimantan. A new Clean Cook Stove Programme is also being started in
2014.
To support its
operation, SNV is now seeking highly qualified international candidates to fill
the position of Renewable Energy Advisor
to be based in our Jakarta Office.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the existing and upcoming Renewable Energy projects in SNV Indonesia in line with SNV and donor requirements
- Provide technical advice to the Renewable Energy project team and partners for successful implementation of projects
- Develop innovative business models to ensure the sustainability of projects
- Formulate and develop new programme concepts and proposals for Renewable Energy
- Take the responsibility for maintaining high quality biogas plant/ cook stoves installations
- Provide regular feedback and advice to the Renewable Energy team and partners on technical improvements
- Coordinate with local government, local communities and local partner on Renewable Energy technology development including organizing and facilitating workshops, meetings with local organisations and government institutions
- Prepare periodic reports and support the monitoring evaluation of projects in line with SNV standardsCandidate profile
- Master degree in renewable energy or related discipline plus a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience or Bachelor degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
- Sound knowledge of renewable energy technology, especially biogas technology. An understanding of clean cook stove technology is also preferred. (preferably)
- Strong interest in field based work and the ability to travel frequently
- Good writing and verbal skills in English. Knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia is an advantage.
- Good training and communication / human relation skills
- Willingness to learn and contribute with innovative ideas
Duty station: Jakarta with very frequent travel to other areas of Indonesia
Contract duration: 1 year consultancy contract with the possibility of
extension.
Desired start date: As soon as possible.
