Reaching Out and Linking In: Health Systems and Close-To-Community Services
(REACHOUT)
The position offers an
opportunity for motivated candidates to join an international collaborative
project between the Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology and the Liverpool
School of Tropical Medicine, UK. The Eijkman Institute is a prestigious well
established internationally acclaimed research institute advancing and
contributing to infectious and non-infectious disease based scientific research.
Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine is an international centre of excellence
with up to date access and expertise in tropical infectious diseases making
them a world leader in their field.
Experience in conducting
qualitative research, time management and organisational skills and ability to
work both collaboratively and independently across a multi-disciplinary team
are essential. Good command of written and spoken English and experience in
using NVivo software is necessary.
Purpose:
To work under the mentorship of the project Principal
Investigators and under the coordination of the Senior Research Associate to
ensure the study is implemented according to the protocol and support day to
day research activities in South West
Sumba, based fixed term for 12 months extendable to 4 years.
Additional merit: Work experience in rural settings 3 months or more
is desirable.
The successful candidate will
be based in South West Sumba. He/she is open to learning new skills and will
work independently with limited supervision.
Responsibilities include:
1. Study Implementations
- Be responsible to collect information from the participating clients, conduct focussed group interviews and SSIs in line with the study protocol.
- Search and review literature and contribute to the development of desk review.
- Participate and support the process of finalizing a methods manual for basic qualitative and quantitative methodologists, quality assurance of research and adapting tools to the Indonesian context.
- Assist the PIs in the preparation and translation of consent forms and interview forms and other study tools.
- Participate in training and engaging field workers to conduct interviews, extract data and other relevant information needed for the study.
- Schedule and prepare work plan to arrange focussed group discussions and SSIs.
- Take lead to investigate incomplete, inaccurate or missing documents to ensure accuracy and completeness of data.
- Ensure that study materials and other items are in order and available for smooth conduct of work.
- Keep comprehensive record of the study interviews, logs and data.
- Transcribe and manage data collected from the study interviews.
- Attend regular meetings held at the field sites and by the Research Team.
2. Communications
- Hold regular meetings with field workers and provide feedback related to the conduct of study.
- Serve as the point person to respond to any queries related to the field work.
- Document all queries and conversations related to study queries raised by the study team, clients or members of community.
