the environment and effecting changes in business practices which lead to
various environmental problems.
Greenpeace in Southeast Asia
Greenpeace opened our first office in
Southeast Asia in 2000. In that time we have led successful campaigns throughout
the region, securing fresher air, cleaner water and a healthier environment
through changing industry practices and government policies. Greenpeace
actively campaigns across the region to catalyze an energy revolution, protect ancient
forests and our oceans, create a toxics-free future and create a shift to sustainable
agriculture.
Greenpeace has three offices in Southeast
Asia—in Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines and each office is composed of five
departments: Campaigns, Fundraising, Communications, Mass Mobilization and Organizational
Support. Currently, Greenpeace has more
than a 140 staff across the region, excluding the direct dialogue fundraisers.
THE POST: FOREST
CONSERVATION ADVISOR
Responsibilities:
- Advice GP Forest team on implementation of HCFV and HCS on landscape level approach.
- Collaborate closely with other project technical staff in the implementation of the work plan for Forest conservation including HCVF, HCS work in Indonesia and to ensure that all project strategies, objectives and activities are carried as planned.
- Identify and train potential experts from the various fields of interest in order to develop and maintain the forest conservation Group for GP forest protection implementation.
- Monitor, update and report on work progress periodically as required by the project development team
COMPETENCY PROFILE
Qualifications
- Graduate preferably with forestry / environment science background. Knowledge and experience in biodiversity assessment will be an added advantage.
- 5 years of experience working in similar roles
- In depth understanding of landscape conservation, land use, forestry, and conservation issues.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision, both in the field and in the office, and able to travel within town area or out of base.
- Must be able to speak and write well in both Bahasa Indonesia and English.
- Must possess good interpersonal skills, innovative thinking, versatile and able to work in a team as well as independently.
- Must possess a strong understanding of current conservation and environmental issues and willing to research on new emerging issues.
