POSITION: World Friends Korea PROGRAM COORDINATOR
World Friends Korea (WFK) is both the new name and the new program for volunteers dispatched overseas by the Korean government.
In 2009, the Korean government unified the separate volunteer programs previously operated by three different ministries into a single brand, "WFK," to enhance the effectiveness of the overseas volunteer programs while also offering a coherent and integrated image for Korea`s overseas volunteer programs. As another two volunteer programs joined the WFK in 2010, it is a single brand name for seven different programs.
KOICA
as Korean government donor agency, under the Ministry of Foreign
Government Republic of Korea, is implementing the volunteer
program. This program strengthens the impact of Korea's foreign aid, and
enhances mutual understanding between Korea and its partner countries.
Currently, KOICA dispatches more or less 76 volunteers as per December
2013, in Indonesia.
The program consists of eight stages: demand surveys, recruitment of volunteers, pre-departure orientation, departure, local adaptation training, placement and overseas service, completion of service, and support for returned volunteers. In order to collaborate closely with local partners and support the volunteers operations overseas, KOICA is increasing the number of volunteer coordinators and volunteer support staff at KOICA overseas offices, including Indonesia.
