The Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and
Humanitarian Law is an independent academic institution established in 1984.
The mission of the Institute is to promote universal respect for human rights
and humanitarian law by means of research, academic education, and
institutional development. The vision of the Institute is to be a centre of
excellence meeting the highest international standards in all its fields of operation, contributing to the development of societies based on a
human rights culture. In addition to research and academic education
programmes, the Raoul Wallenberg Institute has since 1990 been implementing a
wide range of human rights capacity development programmes for institutions in
developing countries, mainly with the support of the Swedish International
Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). RWI has conducted activities in Indonesia for more than 15 years, and
established a Field Office in Jakarta
in 2005. The office assists government institutions in promoting and
strengthening
human rights protection in justice sector institutions.

Summary: The Raoul Wallenberg Institute is currently seeking candidates for the position as Programme Assistant at the field office in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The programme assistant would primarily be responsible for
providing administrative and logistical support to the head of the office and
programme officers in their work. This would include, inter alia, maintaining
records of expenditure and preparing financial reports, provide administrative
support to activity implementation and assist in preparing application for
funding and project reports.
The assignment is a temporary contract for 3 months with the
possibilities of extension.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Head of RWI’s office in Jakarta and in accordance with relevant
template and guidelines, the Programme Assistant’s tasks will include:
- Provide day-to-day administrative support to the running of the office
- Maintaining records of expenditure and processing payments and invoices for the office
- Preparing monthly financial reports on expenditure of the office for submission to RWI head office in Lund
- Provide and coordinate support for the implementation of RWI’s international programmes in Indonesia
- Assist with administrative support for training courses and seminars taking place in Indonesia
- Provide necessary support to course participants in relation to training programmes, including the facilitation of travel arrangements
- Assist with the administration of training programmes/courses, including assisting in drafting course agendas, meeting minutes, and ordering literature and materials, and coordinating and participating in study trips
- Assist with the preparation of proposals for new activities and projects
- For completed activities and projects, assist in preparation of narrative reports
- Assist with registration of the office and other practical and administrative tasks related to the legal status of the office
- Assist the Head of Office with translation between Bahasa Indonesia and English when necessary
- Perform other duties or project related work as assigned by the Head of Office
- The position involves travelling to programme sites in Indonesia to facilitate the implementation of project objectives and to assess and report on project developments and results. At times, the workload can be high
Requirements
- University degree in administration, finance, law or other relevant subjects
- Professional experience from service and/or administrative work, including experience in financial administration
- Work experience in an international organization and experience in international development programmes is an asset
- Demonstrated interest in human rights and wider development issues
- Demonstrated organisational, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong computer skills. Advanced computer and IT skills is an asset
- Ability to take initiatives and prioritise work tasks
- Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and complete tasks within given timeframes;
- Native-level Bahasa Indonesia and excellent English communication skills; and
- Cultural sensitivity and judgement
