Purpose:
- To assist Hivos ROSEA in developing communication strategies and plans. Promoting its works by designing, developing communications materials and planning the outreach.
- To support communications program needs by Hivos ROSEA domains (Open, Green) and projects. 

- To undertake communication and campaign for renewable energy access at Sumba and beyond aimed at mobilization of interest and efforts

Responsible to:
Director Regional Office (dRO)
For communication issues related to Sumba there will be a direct report to the Programme Officer in charge.

Duration:
1 year contract with possible extension depending on funding availability and performance.

Job Description/Roles and Responsibilities:
• To develop communications assessment at Hivos ROSEA and as a result develop communications objectives and plan
• To develop strategic outreach for the communications materials
• When necessary, stimulate Hivos domains (Open and Green) to publish articles on Hivos’s works
• To lead in developing creative ways to publish and or document Hivos’ works (e.g. through photos/ art/ pictures, etc)
• When necessary, to write reports and prepare documentation that is accessible (in English; support translation into Bahasa Indonesia and vice versa)
• To share and explore best/ good practices within RO-SEA domains (Open and Green) and share it with other regional offices/ Head Office
• To respond and maintain regular contact with the Hivos Head Office, especially the Communication Office.
• To support communications program needs by Hivos ROSEA domains and projects.
• To contribute towards developing an effective team and friendly environment.
• Designing, developing, implementing and evaluating the overall communications and public relations strategy for Iconic Island and renewable energy area including identification, development, promotion and dissemination of Iconic Island Initiative information appropriate to target audiences and the messages being conveyed
• Development and delivery of all public relations and communication materials, ensuring quality of content, production and delivery, including preparing and supervising the production of publicity brochures, handouts, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programs as well as the management of ROSEA and Iconic Island websites (development and content management) and social media accounts
• Compile and organize news material (information and photographs) to be exposed in the web, newsletter, social media and other media
• Managing knowledge by writing, documenting and disseminating know-how, experience (highlighting success stories, good practices and lessons learned) and information through various communication channels
• Managing good relationships with the media for story coverage (print, radio and TV), writing press releases and news updates for the media, pitch for media partners in programmes, develop media report on PR/media value on programme as part of donor report and mobilization of journalists for site visits

Required Skills and Experiences
• Have an excellent spoken and written English and Indonesian; and specific skills in writing communications materials
• University Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations; or equivalent professional work experience in the communication and public relations area combined with university degree in a related field.
• 3 years of experience in Communications or Public Relations field; preferably experience with international donor agencies and international NGO’s
• Have a strong knowledge on office software (word processor, spreadsheet, presentation) and on software related to communications - interactive digital media (web editing, social media)
• Good team player with a result oriented approach.
