The Global Green Growth Institute
is looking to hire an outstanding Green Growth Specialist to support their program
in Indonesia.
GGGI is dedicated to
supporting developing and emerging countries to meet their own development and
growth objectives by exploring and implementing green growth plans that
simultaneously target key economic and environmental objectives. These include
poverty reduction, job creation and social inclusion as well as mitigation and
adaptation to climate change, biodiversity loss and energy and water security.
GGGI’s theory of change leads it
to focus on three major outcomes:
adoption and implementation of rigorous green growth plans that form the
core of national and provincial economic development strategies; research which
builds a strong theoretical and empirical basis for green growth, while
providing concrete options and guidance for policymakers; and public-private
partnerships that strengthen incentives for the scaling of resource-efficient
investment, innovation and practice as well as for the engagement of companies
in the implementation of national and subnational green growth plans.
Reporting to the GGGI Country Representative in Indonesia, and part of
the global Green Growth Planning and Implementation (GGP&I) team, you will
be responsible for providing day to day technical advice to the several components of work uder the
program, and for ensuring the
delivery of an integrated program across the various workstreams. You will be based at the
National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) and be responsible for providing technical
advice to team members working on specific workstreams as welll as government
partners on integrating biodiversity, ecosystem services, low carbon/ environmentally
friendly technologies and management practices into the government economic and
development planning as
well as in driving financial/economic instruments and capital investments
towards green growth. You
will also be knowledgeble on spatial planning, land tenure and REDD+ issues and
broader development issues in Indonesia. You will become the key expert and focal point on all these issues above.
You will play a key role in
driving the ‘hybrid’ teams of each component in delivering top quality outputs which meet
high technical standards in the most effective and efficient way. You will monitor and evaluate the
performance of team members and provide coaching and development support, as
well as being a key point of technical advice
and escalation for problem solving.
All applicants must hold exemplary and
relevant academic credentials, and ideally hold a post-graduate degree in a
relevant subject from a leading academic institution. Preferred Individuals have substantial work
experience in a relevant field in Indonesia.
Other key skills and capabilities will
include:
- Exceptional synthesis and strategic thinking skills to ensure the delivery of an integrated program which succesfully support planning, drive investments and show immediate results and actions on the ground as well as ability to focus on longer term outcomes.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving and green growth skills with an aim to effectively mainstream green growth in planning and investment in Indonesia
- Recognized leadership in past appointments as a succesful lead/chief technical advisor in developing country programs
- Demonstrated capacity in facilitating in-depth and effective stakeholder dialogues both internally to support each ‘hybrid’ team as well as externally and consultations on multi-disciplinary issues and across sectors, while maintaining a strong sense of realism with regard to country conditions.
- Demonstrated ability to garner support from a diverse range of stakeholders to ensure local ownership of the various analytical results of the assessments
- At least eight years experience overall of which at least three years were in Indonesia developing and fostering strong relationships with key government institutions for example Ministry of National Development Planning, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, etc.)
- Flexibility, responsiveness, and ability to manage multiple activities to tight deadlines, and with demonstrated ability to lead and work in multidisciplinary teams;
- Outstanding stakeholder engagement, government relationships, and consensus building skills
- A track record of delivery of complex programmes, with multi-stakeholder management in Indonesia
- Effective and efficient operational and organisational skills – project management and project coordination experience
- Ability to communicate complex green growth related issues in a clear and simple way to a diverse audience
- Multi-cultural literacy and easily adaptable
- Actively seeks and considers diverse ideas and approaches and ability to work as part of a team and in a start-up organization. An entrepreneurial spirit is an asset as the organisation is shaping.
- Strong oral and written English is essential, fluency in Indonesian / Bahasa is highly desirable.
