CONSULTANT - STRATEGIC ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT (KLHS) AND DISTRICT SPATIAL PLAN (RTRW)

Sustainable Landscape Partnership (SLP) Project

Mandailing Natal and South Tapanuli, North Sumatera

Conservation International, an international non-governmental organization is now looking for a vendor to produce a Strategic Environmental Assessment (KLHS) that is
linked with other key district planning documents as one of Sustainable Landscape Partnership (SLP) activities in Mandailing Natal (Madina) and South Tapanuli (TapSel), North Sumatera.

SLP is a grant facility established with financial support from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Walton Family Foundation.  The SLP is working to identify, develop and test new solutions aimed at avoiding deforestation and degradation and other associated GHG emissions. Through the development of public-private partnerships, SLP aims to reduce potential emissions due to specific land-use change investments within five years (2011-2016), and is currently focused in two districts (Madina and TapSel).

Strategic assistance from SLP to the Madina and TapSel governments is sought to develop the:
  • Sustainable Environment Assessment (KLHS)
  • Support and inform District Spatial Planning (RTRW)
  • Develop the capacity of government stakeholders to conduct their own SEA and incorporate this in key planning documents
The consultant will be required to drive this process while also providing technical assistance and support SLP work in these districts. The consultant will work closely with the SLP team and the local government (Madina and TapSel) to produce the SEA for each district with a key emphasis on linking the output with integration into future district planning documents.
