Officer Occupational Health Risks, Quality & Policies in vegetable production for the vegIMPACT program (full time, female / male, Indonesian nationality)

Tasks of vegIMPACT officer “Occupational Health Risks, Quality & Policies”
  • Survey, mapping and data collection on occupational health risks in the vegetable production sector, in particular with regard to female labourers.
  • Develop suitable indicators for multi-year measurement of occupational health risks.
  • Development of awareness raising material and organize trainings for labourers in the vegetable production sector on occupational health risks. With special attention for women. Research into quality issues in vegetables supply chains.
  • Research into quality issues in vegetables supply chains.
  • In collaboration with supply chain partners and other relevant stakeholders develop and implement applicable solutions to improve product quality in supply chains to meet market requirements.
  • Training of supply chain stakeholders (farmers, traders, retail) on occupational health risks and quality improvements.
  • Participate in and organize workshops on occupational health risks for women and quality issues in the vegetable production sector.
  • Processing collected data in reports.
Requested Expertise
  • Degree in crop protection, food safety, public health, or related topic or work experience.
  • Some years work experience in quality and health risk issues in the agricultural sector and / or some years of experience with gender related activities in agriculture.
  • Any other combination of studies and working experience, meeting the above mentioned requirements.
Required Skills
  1. Experience with setting up primary and secondary research in quality and safety issues in horticultural supply chains
  2. Experience in organising workshops, training and awareness raising campaigns.
  3. Professional sensitivity regarding the various positions and interest of public and private stakeholders regarding quality and occupational health risks in supply chains.
  4. Good communication skills in English and bahasa Indonesia  (both written and verbally)
  5. Good reporting skills
Other relevant information about this position
  • Duty Station: Jakarta, with frequent travel within Indonesia (you will travel about 30% of your time into five provinces)
  •  You will work under the responsibility of the WageningenUR vegIMPACT project leader Quality Systems of the vegIMPACT program, based in the Netherlands.
  • Incidentally long and irregular working / travel days and work in the weekends can be requested.
  • Fresh Dynamics Indonesia offers a one year contract with possibilities for extension.
About Fresh Dynamics Indonesia and the VegIMPACT program

The vegIMPACT program is an initiative of Wageningen University and Research Centre from the Netherlands, the Royal Dutch Embassy in Jakarta and Indonesian partners such as Fresh Dynamics Indonesia, the Indonesian institute for Vegetables Research (Balitsa), and the Directorate General Horticultural Production. The objectives of this four year program are among others:
  • to improve Vegetable Production and Marketing for small farmers;
  • to increase the Food Security status
  • to promote Private Sector Development in Indonesia
  • reduction in occupational health risks for women and
  • increased employment
The vegIMPACT program builds on the results of previous Indonesian-Dutch horticultural development projects as well as farmers’ training. Tangible results of these projects were: increased profitability of vegetable production at farmer’s level, improved product quality, better food safety and less emission of agro-chemicals. The project will conduct activities in
5 provinces of Indonesia.
