Established in 1888 Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) is one of Germany’s longest established and largest social welfare organisations. ASB entered Indonesia following the May 2006 earthquake and has established projects in emergency relief; reconstruction and training; information and outreach; disaster preparedness and livelihoods sectors. ASB is a key player in disaster risk reduction education and a regional leader in providing innovative DRR services and solutions to people with disabilities.
ASB is currently seeking expressions of interest from qualified and committed individuals for the following position:
Business Development Officer
Location:Yogyakarta, Indonesia (with possible travel)
Duration: 12 months initial contract
(including 3 month probation period)

Summary of job profile:
This position primarily relates to business development and livelihoods support. The position is responsible for delivering business development support to micro-enterprises with a focus on post-production activities including marketing. Additional duties include coordination of field activities with key project stakeholders, and to ensure inclusive community mobilisation and participation in community level activities. The Business Development Officer reports to the Programme Manager, and relevant Team Leader, and is expected to coordinate closely with other project members. The position includes both field and office work.
Expected experience and qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years experience of relevant experience.
- Proven experience of business development and service delivery.
- Demonstrable experience and understanding of practical strategies of widening market access and marketing for small rural enterprises.
- Training and facilitation experience required.
- Experience of working with a range of actors at the community level required.
- Understanding and experience of working on supply chains a distinct advantage.
- Previous NGO experience an advantage; however, those with that can demonstrate transferable skills from private sector encouraged to apply.
- Sound understanding of the principles of inclusion and participation required.
- Understanding of how livelihoods contribute to resilience expected.
- Excellent reporting skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Bahasa Indonesia and English language skills.
- Enthusiasm, critical thinking and a creative approach to problem solving highly valued.
