The World Agroforestry Centre (also known as the International Centre for Research in Agroforestry or ICRAF) is an independent research institution which generates science-based knowledge about the complex role trees play in agricultural landscapes and rural livelihoods. As part of the Centre’s work to bring tree-based solutions to bear on poverty and environmental problems, researchers – working in close collaboration with partners – are developing new technologies, tools and policy recommendations for increased food security and ecosystem health.

About the position
NRM Tool Developer will work closely with a team of ecologist, land use planning specialist, economist, modeller and social scientist to develop sets of modular application for Land Use Planning for Multiple Environmental Services (LUMENS). He/she will lead a team of programmers to design, build, test and document the process of LUMENS development, under a close collaboration with relevant scientists and other potential users. About the position
NRM Tool Developer will work closely with a team of ecologist, land use planning specialist, economist, modeller and social scientist to develop sets of modular application for Land Use Planning for Multiple Environmental Services (LUMENS). He/she will lead a team of programmers to design, build, test and document the process of LUMENS development, under a close collaboration with relevant scientists and other potential users. The primary
duties and responsibilities are :
- Work closely with a team of researchers to conceptualize and design modular application for informed, inclusive and integrative land use planning for multiple environmental services such as carbon, hydrology and biodiversity.
- Interpret the concept and design of LUMENS into an implementable framework and architecture for application/ software development.
- Develop LUMENS application with some supports from consultants, whenever necessary
- Design proper testing of the application and implement quality assessment/ quality control of the application
- Document the development process of LUMENS and facilitate the translation to languages other than English
- Develop user manual of LUMENS
- Work closely with ecologist and land use planning specialist to develop training materials for LUMENS
- Ensure timely development of the application to achieve project target as mandated by relevant bilateral project(s) and/or CRP component(s) within ICRAF
- Support the web development and maintenance of bilateral projects concerning LUMENS
- Technical backstopping to partners and users of LUMENS

Requirements
- Minimum BSc degree in computer programming or information and technology
- Vast and strong knowledge on programming language such as Java, Phyton or C++
- Strong knowledge on open source software
- Strong programming and analytical skills
- Good communication skills and competence in developing user interface
- Knowledge of NRM, geographical information system, statistic and ecological modelling
- More than 5 years experience as programmer or related position in international or reputable organizations
- Competent and experience in computer application development
- Experience in working with not-for-profit organizations and government institutions.

- Having good command of English and Bahasa Indonesia
- Willing to learn new skills/knowledge related to the scope/content of the specified projects.
