Currently we are searching for a qualified candidate to fill the position of:
CONSERVATION MANAGER
The Conservation Manager will be responsible to assess and adapt marine conservation strategies and approaches in accordance with TNC global priorities around Ocean Solutions, Sustainable Fisheries and other relevant priorities as well as direction and approach of TNC Asia Pacific region. With support from field project leaders, s/he will lead the site-based conservation program strategy development to sustain long-term impacts of on-the-ground conservation results far beyond TNC field office presence in a site. This could be done through building capacity of local conservation partners to assume more proactive roles in protecting and sustainably using marine resources nearby their areas.
The Conservation Manager, in close coordination with other relevant managers and project leaders at IMP, will also coordinate work-planning, program budgeting, supports project management by tracking progress against the work plans. S/he shares the responsibility with the IMP Director in developing marine program proposals, reporting and coordinating with relevant partners in implementation of work plan. S/he provides technical support to the site teams, together with managers and project leaders identify supports required by the program/team and find solutions to any bottleneck in timely manner. Together with the IMP Director, s/he serves as the joint point of contact for marine issues with government agencies, other conservation organizations, local, national and international TNC marine staff and public and private funders. S/he will have excellent organization, social, and communication skills, able to handle busy schedules as well as maintain the ongoing communication and follow-up as necessary for this widely dispersed work group. S/he must possess people skills, determined and able to work under minimal supervision.
As directed by the IMP Director, s/he might be tasked to develop innovative solutions with government agencies and partners to conserve and protect important marine areas; developing and implementing cutting-edge marine conservation strategies, including the development of a resilient network of marine protected areas that benefits people and biodiversity and capable of withstanding global climate change impacts.
The Conservation Manager will be based in Bali and supervised by the IMP Director.

Basic Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in marine affairs/coastal and/or natural resource management/marine policy/ or related field and 7 years’ experience in coastal and marine resource conservation and management or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent in report and proposal writing and program/project management
- Skills and experience in working and supervising highly diverse team
- Experience communicating with donors, public and/or media both in writing and verbally
- Experience using common software applications such as Word, Excel, Web browsers, etc.
Requirements:
- 7-10 years’ experience in coastal and marine resource conservation and management or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated experience influencing, developing and implementing conservation policy and plans
- Knowledge of current trends and practices in conservation, land management and natural resource preservation
- Developing practical applications of scientific concepts and technical innovations for conservation purposes
- Knowledge of methods and standards of biodiversity information systems and initiatives
- Motivating team members, setting goals, and leading efforts
- Delivering practical, adaptable products and services to customers
- Knowledge of politics and society with respect to environmental affairs
- Managing time and diverse activities under deadlines while delivering quality results
- Communicating clearly via written, spoken, and graphical means in English
- Demonstrated success as an inspirational manager who has successfully motivated staff to achieve and sustain excellence
- Demonstrated leadership and visionary qualities and able to work effectively with and through others in a decentralized and geographically dispersed organization
- Extensive networking with high-level conservation contacts; political savvy
- Proven interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
- Ability to communicate and work closely with a wide variety of partners
