Organisation Description:
Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. is a German Christian non-governmental
organisation, dedicated to excellence in the field of first aid,
ambulance service, social service programmes and other projects in the
medical and social field. The Federal Headquarters are based in Berlin,
Germany.
Johanniter-International Assistance is the department for development
cooperation and Emergency aid, implementing and supporting projects
worldwide.
Job Location: currently Medan/ Indonesia, but the Indonesian Office
will be shifted to Jakarta. Post of the Regional Director will be in the Region, exact location to be defined.
Project Description:
SEA is a region, which is regularly hit by natural disasters.
Therefore, Johanniter started their work 2004 in Indonesia with
emergency aid after Tsunami, 2008 after Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar and
2012 after Taifun Jayalat and Bopha in Philippines. Other project
countries, which are monitored by the Regional Office, are Cambodia,
North Korea and envisaged Laos. In all above mentioned countries the
projects are implemented by local partners.
The Johanniter´s program consists of the following projects:
- Disaster Preparedness and First Aid Training, i.e. for rural communities
- Support for different projects of local NGO in the fields of basic health care for communities and integral development
- Emergency relief activities
Job Description:
The Regional Director will be reporting to: Headquarter in Berlin
working with: 3 project co-ordinators (Expats in 3 countries), 1
financial/administrative assistant (Expat or local staff), local staff
in the countries on demand
Job Responsibilities:
- Re-establish the Johanniter Office in the region
- Ensure the continuing implementation and extension of Johanniter programme in close and continuing liaison with governmental and/or local authorities, donors, international and local non-governmental organisations concerning the implementation of the programme, including legal matters
- Carry out needs assessments within the programme if necessary and support program evaluations if required, e.g. quick response in emergency cases
- Support the acquisition of local partners, new projects and accessing third part funding
- Work within the local infrastructure to ensure the programme is sustainable and, if appropriate, that operations are effectively handed over to local infrastructure
- Lead and guide expatriate and local staff
- Control finances and ensure that the program remains within its original budget and is in line with Johanniter guidelines
- Maintain regular communication with Berlin HQ and within the regional team, including monthly reports
- Prioritise security, ensuring that guidelines are followed and adapted as required, that maximum preventative measures are taken and that the team is safe and well informed at all times
- Support Media and Press work in conjunction with Johanniter spokes person
Required Skills:
- Working experience in foreign countries in development cooperation and humanitarian aid
- Fluent in English (written and spoken), German will be an asset

Terms and Conditions:
Start Date: 1st June 2013
Duration: 1 Year contract (with possible extension)
Remuneration: Salary range according to the ARV-J regulations
depending on qualification and experience + per diem according to the
German travel expense act (BRKG)
