Conservation International is a non-profit organization based in the US that works to spotlight and secure the critical benefits that nature provides to humanity. Conservation International has been working in Indonesia since 1991, under the cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, with two major programs: terrestrial (forest/landscapes) and marine (seascapes).
Terrestrial program works in three provinces: West Java, North Sumatra, and West Papua; to promote sustainable development through sustainable landscapes approach, green supply chain, and multiple-use of forest management to support the Sustainable Development Goals in Indonesia, especially SDG No 13 and 15. We are supporting the Government of Indonesia both at the national and province level, to achieve their commitment towards sustainable development, climate change, and environmental protection, as well as its long-term benefits to society and economic development.
Conservation International works with high-level Government officials, private sectors, NGOs, academicians, and communities in supporting the achievements of those objectives; through various programmatic activities: strengthening the governance, technical assistance in formulating the policy/regulation, private sectors engagement, and outreach/education to the community.
We are looking for a communications assistant (consultant) to support the production of those materials and implementation of activities at the national level.
Scope of Work & Deliverable
The Communications Assistant, in close collaboration with Visual Communications Consultant, will assist Program Communications and Reporting Manager to draft various communications products and assist in communications activities, including but not limited to:
- Reports, Fact sheets, Project booklet, Newsletter, etc.
- Education Materials: Infographics, Poster
- Contents for Instagram, Facebook fan page, and website (including a short video)
- Branding and Collateral: banner, backdrop, t-shirt, etc.
- National media engagement, press release dissemination, media monitoring
- Conduct desktop research, prepare minutes of meeting and event documentation, editing, translation, and other tasks as requested
- Branding guide and communications protocol will be provided as a guide for the Consultant. The production of communications materials will be based on the communications plan as well as ad-hoc requests based on programmatic needs/priorities.
Timeline & Condition
This position will be working with the Program team under the direction from Program Communications and Reporting Manager, from mid-May until the end of December 2020, with the possibility of extension.
Under certain circumstances, the Consultant can work from home and must manage high-quality products as required by Conservation International.
In normal circumstances, the Consultant is expected to come to the CI Indonesia office from Monday – Friday, especially to get an initial brief and product finalization, in order to get an intensive review from the Manager.
Requirements
- Solid experience and expertise in communications for non-profit (preferably in environmental NGO) with a proven track record in producing various communications products to different audiences.
- Strong understanding of environmental issues in Indonesia/global (mainly related to forestry sectors and climate change), and well-experienced in dealing with national and international environmental journalists.
- Understand social media landscapes in Indonesia and high ability to execute social media plans and manage various digital platforms.
- Strong understanding about branding, style, etc. in communications products.
- Ability to work under pressure with limited deadline, ability to manage priorities.
- Team player, high-level attention to detail, and familiar with the various formats of communications products.
