DRS is looking on behalf of its client, an international non-profit organization for a Project Manager with experience in project management, excellent communication and writing skills, passionate about working in supply chains to generate value and interested in a career with a dynamic non-profit that builds relationships with companies, governments and civil society organizations to bring responsible products to market.
The Project Lead is office- based but flexible to travel and is keen to drive change across supply chains. They will work collaboratively with a range of supply chain actors & industry stakeholders to understand their business, identify incentives for forest conservation & promote collaboration among actors.
The Project Lead will continuously seek innovative solutions to support palm oil industry actors to meet commitments of zero deforestation linked to palm oil supply chains. They will strive to identify & support implementation of changes which meet these commitments yet also meet economic needs of independent farmers, local governments, and other actors. He/she should be a self-starter and innovator who understands the complexity of implementing private sector sustainable supply chain commitments.
The Project Lead will work in a team, in close collaboration with the Earthworm Foundation Project Supervisor and also participate in the implementation of the project: supplier engagement, mill engagement & capacity building, field verification visits, integration of data platforms, consolidation, synthesis & analysis of a wide range of data to advise strategy on deforestation approach

Responsibilities and Scope
- Lead the delivery of Rapid Deforestation Verification 2020 project in close collaboration with the core team, partners, private sector companies, upstream supply chain actors such as mills & farmers.
- Link Rapid Deforestation Verification 2020 project to work in the same supply chains, and support in this work where relevant/necessary.
- Provide & seek strategic input on project design & execution & integrate this into project delivery.
- Stakeholder engagement predominantly with private sector actors to encourage maximum collaboration on the project.
- Support on data management of project where necessary: consolidation of various sources of data, data analysis, strategic thinking around integration of various data platforms.
- Track project progress & provide regular written reports and verbal updates on work plan to project supervisor and project sponsor.
- Share progress and lessons learned from Rapid Deforestation Verification 2020 project with the rest of the Earthworm Foundation throughout the year. Identify where work or learnings from the project is relevant to other programs in Earthworm Foundation, and proactively reach out to colleagues to establish links between projects/programs.
- Bachelor’s degree and 3-years of experience in environmental sector (NGOs, government or private sector), with supply chain management, or other role related to above job description & responsibilities.
- Degree in data management or proven experience in data management
- Experience with project management: meeting contract deliverables, respecting timelines, tracking budgets, reporting progress, coordinating teams, etc.
- Experience negotiating and working with the private sector including small and large businesses, civil society, and government actors.
- Experience working with farmers and/or communities.
- Strong organizational skills, accuracy, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple interrelated tasks.
- Demonstrated experience using diplomacy and tact to navigate tough negotiations, and build strong relationships.
- English proficiency essential
- Bahasa Indonesia/Malay an asset
- Passion for working on issues related to sustainability, forest conservation and supply chains.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work autonomously.
- Flexibility, takes initiative/proactive and positive attitude.
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary and multicultural team.
