Food and Land Use Coalition
The Food and Land Use Coalition (FOLU), co-led by the World Resources Institute, seeks to accelerate a transformation of the world’s food and land use systems to better protect our natural environment; provide nutritious and affordable food; strengthen the resilience and enhance the prosperity of people; and meet the SDGs and the Paris Agreement. FOLU aims to provide the practical connections, the evidence bases for action and a vision for change to drive a food and land use system transformation. We do this by:
- Partnering with those best-placed to develop and deliver messages regarding food and land use systems transformation within a given political economy;
- Working with national partners to develop compelling, evidence-based analyses, strategic land-use planning frameworks, pathways towards sustainable land-use and food systems, and policy recommendations; and
- Creating platforms and partnership models to encourage multi-stakeholder collaboration, both nationally and globally.
Food and Land Use Coalition in Indonesia
The Food and Land Use Coalition in Indonesia is a coalition of institutions working to support the Government of Indonesia’s efforts to bring about a more sustainable food and land use economy for the country.
The FOLU Coalition is fully integrated into Bappenas’ Low Carbon Development Initiative.
The aim of the Coalition is to convene and inspire key Indonesian stakeholders with a view to accelerating globally significant action which addresses the important development, climate, environment, biodiversity and health/nutrition challenges Indonesia faces in the coming decades.
The Food and Land Use Coalition in Indonesia is supporting policy research, engaging directly with the national government – as well as subnational jurisdictions, the private sector and other stakeholders – to support the shift towards a more sustainable food and land use system. The Coalition also seeks to enable Indonesia’s rich experience and diverse perspectives to be shared with the international FOLU community.
The Food and Land Use Coalition in Indonesia comprises a detailed integrated country modelling effort, led by the University of Indonesia and Bogor Agricultural University, coupled with high-level policy engagement with national decision-makers in the public and private sector, led by WRI Indonesia, the EAT Foundation, GAIN, the Indonesian Business Council of Sustainable Development, IIASA, UN SDSN, Systemiq and other partners.
Job Summary
We seek an experienced, dynamic diplomat and first-rate communicator who can work to build an effective and first-rate coalition which leads to lasting impact. The role of the Program Lead will be to work to build trust and collaborative work between the institutions involved in the coalition, fundraise for the coalition’s long-term work, and position the coalition strategically with key counterparts in the public and private sector in Indonesia. The program lead would be housed at WRI Indonesia, where he or she would report to the LCDI Manager, as well as to a steering committee comprising a representative of BAPPENAS and the other institutions of the coalition.

Job Qualifications
- Masters or equivalent degree is preferable
- Expert in building and managing effective coalitions
- Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative, with a focus on strategic challenges
- 3-5+ years’ experience within government or private sector dealing with strategy, multi-stakeholder, and policy engagements
- Proven track record in negotiating significant change at the highest levels
- Relationship management skills, also at a senior policy-maker level
- Detailed relevant policy experience and influencing key decision makers
- Demonstrable high-level network within Indonesia
- Full fluency in written English and Bahasa
- Strong entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to identify growth opportunities and take a lead in exploring new ideas and concepts
- Experience with fundraising
- Comfortable with occasional international travel
Must have authorization to work in Indonesia to be eligible for this position.
Final candidates might be required to take a writing test and to produce two writing samples when needed.
