Save the Children Job Vacancy: Infrastructure Officer, Palu - Central Sulawesi

Save the Children in Indonesia is changing for the better. We've begun to build a national organization that aims to be a strong, local, and self-sustaining voice for children in Indonesia. To this end, SC Indonesia has been designated as a “Prospect Member”. As ‘Prospect Member’ Indonesia has been identified as part of the next way of new member development, which focuses on strengthening and localizing our voice for children in strategic middle income countries. Indonesia has been authorized by member ballot to start fundraising locally as a first step towards building a financially sustainable local organization. Future work will also involve developing a strong local governance structure and building key partnerships with local government, the private sector, local civil society among others. Success of the pilot phase will set the Indonesia on a pathway to full membership.
We are currently seeking to fill the following position:
Infrastructure Officer
1 (one) position based in Palu, Central Sulawesi
ROLE PURPOSE:
The wild earthquake occurred in September 28, 2018 Friday was responsible for loosing hundreds of lives and damaging of thousands of houses and infrastructures. Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik (YSTC) responded with in 72 hours to provide basic needs in affected areas despite of many challenges on transportation. YSTC is working very closely with Government, humanitarian partners and Local community to provide integrated support such as Non Food Items and Shelter, water sanitation and hygiene  promotion (WASH), Food Security and Livelihood (FSL), Child protection, Education and Nutrition.
YSTC aims to establish hundreds of Temporary Learning Spaces (TLS) and Child Friendly Spaces (CFS), repair schools building within project area in close coordination Government, humanitarian partners, school management committee (SMC) and other stakeholders. YSTC is also supporting earthquake affected families to construct transitional shelters through owner driven approach.
This position is expected to provide extensive technical support to improve knowledge on safer shelter construction. S/he needs to visit working communities to provide technical assistance to construct semi- permanent shelters through owner driven approach.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Essensial:
  • Completion of Bachelor in Civil Engineering/Architecture course
  • Basic knowledge on handling AutoCAD, SAP, MS word and excel
  • High skill on preparing Bill of Quantity (BOQ), cost estimate and work schedule
  • Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours in the event of major emergencies including travelling at short notice and for extended periods of time
Desirable:
  • 2-3 years of Experience in related work.
