Save the Children in Indonesia is changing for the better. We've begun to build a national organization that aims to be a strong, local, and self-sustaining voice for children in Indonesia. To this end, SC Indonesia has been designated as a “Prospect Member”. As ‘Prospect Member’ Indonesia has been identified as part of the next way of new member development, which focuses on strengthening and localizing our voice for children in strategic middle income countries. Indonesia has been authorized by member ballot to start fundraising locally as a first step towards building a financially sustainable local organization. Future work will also involve developing a strong local governance structure and building key partnerships with local government, the private sector, local civil society among others. Success of the pilot phase will set the Indonesia on a pathway to full membership. We are currently seeking to fill the following position:
Consultant for Child Protection and Education Implementation
1 position based in West Java
CONSULTANCY PURPOSE:
As the IDEAL project has just recently ended by December 2018, we will need to continue monitor the transition period after end of the project, in particularly in the community level; to ensure smooth transition process towards sustainability of the community based rehabilitation centre (RBM) program as initiated through this IDEAL Project. In the meantime, EMIS Project is currently finalizing its field data collection at household level in the two targeted neighborhoods. Family based care program will be soon implemented in collaboration with selected local organization as implementing partners. In view of all above and considering that all IDEAL Project team have ended their contract, Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik (Save the Children Indonesia) plan to hire a dedicated person as a consultant; to oversee the overall implementation of those programs as well as maintain and strengthen the relation with relevant stakeholders of the program. This also to ensure that all deliverables and planned activities are completed in a good quality of works. The consultant will work on day to day implementation and reports directly to Central Indonesia Area Manager.
OBJECTIVES OF CONSULTANCY:
Conduct day to day implementation of the child protection and education programs under Central Indonesia Area, which mainly focused on the three projects or activities: assisting digital fundraising cash-grant, assisting in out of school research, family based care program implementation and advocacy on education management information system.
CONSULTANCY SERVICES PERIOD:
This consultancy will be conduct start from Mid of February to Mid of April 2019 or equivalent to 30 billable working days.
EXPECTED OUTPUTS:
- The consultant shall submit bi-weekly report on assisting digital fundraising cashgrant, assisting in out of school research & family based care program implementation to Central Indonesia Area Manager every Friday of the second week; covering progress updates, challenges, achievement, and next plan (template will be attached separately).
- The consultant shall submit bi-weekly timesheet to Central Indonesia Area Manager
Background
Education background in Education, Community Health, Social Work, Social/culture study or relevant studies.
Experience and Skills
Essential
- At least 4 years experiences working development program or in a non-profit organization or private sector.
- Proven skills on community development and mobilization and work closely with key stakeholders.
- Proven knowledge and experience related to child protection issues in Indonesia, well understanding on West Java context is preferred
- Proven skills on community development and mobilization and work closely with key stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia. Experience in English based project report is preferable.
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches
- Ability to work fast, effectively and independently in often high-pressure environments, working across a number of teams to deliver high campaign and program output.
- Have experiences work in West Java (desirable)
- Computer literacy
- Excellent basic program cycle
- Letter of expression of interest clearly indicating daily rates and availability
- Technical proposal (no more than 5 pages)
- Curriculum Vitae (s) of lead Consultant(s) including relevant technical staffs
- At least one example of similar work (reports or hyperlink)
