JOB PURPOSE
This post will be part of the OI Asia regional platform team and be hosted by the Oxfam Country Office in Indonesia or Thailand. This post will develop and Coordinate Oxfam Asia Regional Platform’s private sector strategic engagement, in line with the Behind the Barcode/ Price campaign, on seafood value chains focusing on key large national and international seafood processors and traders headquartered and operational in Asia with supply chain connections to global supermarkets. This position is expected to work closely to reduce poverty, empower women and increase the resilience of fishermen, workers and aquaculture farmers with the following stakeholders: 
  • National CSO coalitions/alliances and Oxfam national and regional partners;
  • Oxfam in country Private Sector and Policy/ Influencing teams in Asia with a primary focus on Thailand and Indonesia with scope for additional country engagement,
  • Oxfam global and affiliate teams working on the Behind the Barcode/ Price campaign, and 
  • Relevant Oxfam Programmes in the Asian region like. The Gender Transformative & Responsible Business Investment in South East Asia (GRAISEA)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITY
To support delivery of the Behind the Price campaign strategy for Oxfam in Asia and national seafood private sector influencing strategies of Oxfam country offices and allies in Thailand and Indonesia contributing to responsible value chains in the seafood sector in Asia
  • To develop and operationalize strategies for successful private sector engagement of specific Asian seafood processors and traders
  • To lead engagement with relevant industry bodies, platforms and other networks with access to key private sector actors, which may include engagement with the Global Seafood Task Force and facilitating the national seafood dialogues between companies and NGOs in specific locations 
  • To develop relationships and co-design capacity building trajectories with national and regional civil society partners and allies and networks working on responsible business value chains and workers’ rights through workshops, trainings etc
As representative Oxfam in Asia strategic discussions with the private sector and in public forums with the private sector on seafood sustainability and human rights-related issues
  • To lead and manage research studies and scoping studies related to project objectives on sustainable seafood value chains- This would include developing discussion papers, research reports, policy briefs, etc 
  • To design and implement tactics including high level events to influence stakeholders, especially seafood traders and processors, to adopt responsible and inclusive business practices Using a data driven strategy to convey a complex advocacy narrative to diverse sets of audiences, including mainstream consumers and urban middle-class citizens in Thailand, Indonesia and other East Asian nations. 
  • To ensure that gender and diversity analysis is applied across all levels of planning and delivery 
  • To mobilize and coordinate internal and external resources to implement agreed strategies and plans working closely with Oxfam Thailand and Indonesia teams along with Oxfam GRAISEA and BHR projects 
  • To provide support to Public Engagement to engage the Project’s target audience through media, social media and events
  • To ensuring prudent record keeping of planning and implementation progress including activities and budgets for internal and donor reporting.
TECHNICAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

Essential
  • 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience working in economic development, the private sector, public advocacy, corporate social responsibility, labour and/or related fields 
  • Collaborative leadership and experience on collaborations, campaigns and/or policy initiatives engaging private sector actors
  • Strong familiarity with engaging Asian businesses and with industry associations is preferable 
  • Strong writing, analytical, presentation, and relationship-building skills; and
  • Strong facilitation and convening skills and expertise in contexts where there is little trust or established ways of working between key actors, esp. between large companies and CSOs or communities of farmers and workers 
  • Affinity with gender issues and intervention strategies
  • Comfortable with public campaigning where suitable, to mobilize consumer and urban middle class support
  • Experience working effectively in cross-cultural teams.
Desirable 
  • Experience managing projects across departmental lines 
  • Experience and affinity with the programs and ways of working of national and international CSOs in Asia relevant to the project 
  • Experience working in cross-cultural setting
  • Strong understanding of, and experience working with Thai/Indonesian companies and/ or Governments. 
  • Knowledge and familiarity with the seafood global supply chains and labour rights issues.
