BwN Background
Building with Nature Indonesia is a large scale flagship project aims at securing the severely eroding Northern Java’s delta coastlines. The Building with Nature measures in Demak will be embedded in community development plans, in a district level master plan and in provincial development plans and supported by intensive capacity building and knowledge transfer.
Objective
Based in Demak, Central Java, Mangrove-ecology field staff will work under supervision and guidance of Program Manager as well as coordination with Mangrove Ecology Officer. The major responsibility of Mangrove-ecology Field Staff is to support the implementation of mangrove restoration monitoring activity.
Task
- Participate in the monitoring training;
- Act as a co-facilitator in monitoring training for target group members;?
- To organise and facilitate the target group members in conducting the monitoring activity.
Qualification:
- Education: Minimum Bachelor’s (S1) degree in marine and fishery science, biology, forestry, or relevant degrees.
Requirements:
- Good understanding of mangrove ecology;
- Proven experience in conducting mangrove biophysical (including elevation and hydrology) survey;
- Proven experience in participatory community facilitation;
- Ability to prioritize own workload, to work independently and to work to deadlines;
- Good team player and interpersonal skills;
- Strong commitment to gender, diversity issues, equal opportunities and capacity building;
- Obey with the aims and objectives of BwN project and Blue Forests;
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work sensitively with people from various cultural and social background;
- Effective writing and effective verbal communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia, with skills in English, is an advantage.
